Abstract Working conditions refer to the particularities of the environment in which work activities are carried out. Throughout history, teachers' working conditions have undergone continuous transformations under different educational reforms, which have an impact on their well-being at work. The research objective was to analyze the relationship between the assessment of working conditions and perceived occupational well-being in 132 primary and secondary teachers from public and private schools in the city of Cali, Colombia. It was carried out by means of a quantitative methodology with a correlational design and intentional non-probabilistic sampling. It was evidenced that increasing in the time devoted to performing the teaching function, organization and workload affects teachers´ welfare. Additionally, a significant relationship was found between the working conditions and the labor well-being of teachers. The type of short-term contracting generates job insecurity and instability and some collateral effects such as somatization and exhaustion, which are detrimental to their work performance, health, and wellbeing.

RESUMO

Objective:To understand the status of uncertainty stress and occupational well-being of medical staff in Zhejiang Province, and to analysis the relationship between them, in the context of a pandemic of novel coronavirus pneumonia (corona virus disease 2019, COVID-19).Methods:From May to June 2021, 1 028 medical staff were selected from 8 Class Ⅲ hospitals in Zhejiang Province by convenience sampling. The cross-sectional survey was conducted with the General Information Questionnaire, the Uncertainty Stress Scale and the Occupational Well-being Scale. Pearson method was used to analyze the correlation between uncertain psychological stress and occupational well-being of medical staff, and multiple linear regression was used to analyze the influencing factors of occupational well-being of medical staff. Results:The total score of uncertainty stress of 1028 medical staff was (25.62±8.92), and the total score of occupational well-being was (75.03±14.68) at a moderate level, including 48 (4.7%) participants with a high level of occupational well-being. Uncertainty stress of medical staff was negatively correlated with occupational well-being ( r=-0.46, P<0.01). Multiple regression analysis showed that working years, hospital class, interests, leisure time, personality traits, status of self-reported health and levels of uncertainty stress had statistically significant influence on occupational well-being ( t=-2.30-10.28, all P<0.05). Conclusions:The occupational well-being of medical staff in Zhejiang Province needs to be improved. Health administrative departments should formulate targeted intervention measures to enhance the ability of medical staff to cope with uncertainty stress, so as to improve the occupational well-being of medical staff.

RESUMO

Objective To prepare an occupation well-being scale for nurses, and test its reliability and validity. Methods After literature review and semi-structured interviews, the item pool of the occupation well-being scale for nurses was created based on theory of structure of the subjective well-being. After group discussion, and evaluation by the specialists, a pilot scale was obtained. A total of 350 clinical nurses were selected by using stratified sampling method, and their occupation well-being were surveyed by the scale. The data were used to assess the reliability and validity of the scale. Results The occupation well-being scale for nurses had 3 dimensions, including 8 exploring factors. The values of Cronbach Alpha and the split half reliability coefficient of the total scale, endogenous exogenous satisfaction, satisfaction of nurses occupation happiness were all larger than 0.9, which meaned the internal consistency was good. In the emotion dimension, the value of Cronbach Alpha and the split half reliability coefficient were less than 0.7, which meant the internal consistency was not so good. The reliability coefficient of repeated measurement of the whole scale and each dimension were greater than 0.7, suggesting the external consistency of the scale was good. The content validity index of 3 dimensions were all larger than 0.9,and the cumulative ex-planatory variables were all larger than 55%. Conclusion The occupation well-being scale for nurses proposed in this study has good reliability and validity, and can be used to evaluate the occupation well-being of the nurses.
