A atualidade como questão: ontologia do presente em Michel Foucault / The actuality as a question: ontology of present in Michel Foucault

Este trabalho tem por objetivo analisar a noção de "ontologia do presente" elaborada por Michel Foucault, explicitando os estudos do filósofo sobre a produção histórica de subjetividades. Cumpre investigar o contexto de surgimento da referida noção, retomando os escritos de Foucault sobre a moral greco-romana antiga, nos quais ele problematiza o papel da liberdade e da autonomia na formação do cidadão. Para Foucault, a ontologia do presente consiste em uma crítica dos dispositivos de assujeitamento e dominação, engendrados pelas sociedades disciplinares e de controle. Através dessa crítica, o filósofo buscará por instrumentos de análise da atualidade, vislumbrando a possibilidade de transformação dos processos históricos de subjetivação.

This paper aims to evidence the meaning of "ontology of present", a concept elaborated by Michel Foucault, and intends to elucidate the philosopher's idea that subjectivity is historically formed. The context of the concept's emergence will be analyzed, considering Foucault's studies on the ancient greco-roman moral, in which he discuss the role of liberty and autonomy in the development of citizens. To the philosopher, the ontology of present consists in a critic of the domination and subjugation mechanisms, produced by disciplinary and control societies. With this critic, Foucault pictures theoric tools to analyze the actuality, making possible to transform the historical processes of subjectification.

Autoria e esquiva: pensamento, ética e subjetivação em Michel Foucault / Authorship and avoidance: tought, ethics and subjectivation in Michel Foucault

Este artigo se fundamenta nos argumentos de Richard Bernstein em defesa da postura crítica de Foucault, contextualizados a partir do debate com Habermas, para quem a teoria foucaultiana do poder se ressentiria da explicitação de seus fundamentos normativos. Procuramos indicar, baseados na conferência sobre a função do autor, de 1969, o modo como tal postura se materializa precisamente na recusa em assumir uma posição de enunciação vinculada à proclamação tanto da Verdade quanto do Bem. Tal recusa, aqui denominada esquiva, faz com que a crítica seja permanente e se constitua como entrelaçamento entre trabalho filosófico, problematização ética e formas de subjetivação.

The article starts with the arguments of Richard Bernstein in behalf of Foucault' critical attitude in the context of the debate with Habermas, according to whom Foucault's theory about power lacked the explicitness of its normative foundations. We tried to indicate, considering as a ground the conference about the author's function, of 1969, the way in which such an attitude materializes itself precisely in the refusal of assuming a position of enunciation attached to the proclamation of the Truth as well as of the Good. Such a refusal, here named avoidance, makes this critique a permannent one and constitutes itself as an interlacing between philosophical work, ethical problematization and modes of subjectivation.
