Resumen El modelo dimensional alternativo para los trastornos de personalidad incluye 25 facetas (rasgos patológicos) organizadas en cinco dominios de orden superior (Desapego, Afectividad Negativa, Psicoticismo, Antagonismo y Desinhibición). Para evaluar este modelo, se desarrolló el Personality Inventory for DSM-5 (PID-5), que posee dos versiones: una extensa (220 ítems) que evalúa dominios y facetas, y una breve (25 ítems) que evalúa solo los dominios. En un trabajo anterior, se brindó evidencia favorable para una versión breve (31 ítems) adaptada para ser utilizada en población argentina. En el presente trabajo se estudian las propiedades psicométricas de una versión reducida y modificada del PID-5 que permite evaluar ambos componentes por medio de una cantidad de ítems (108). La validez convergente se evaluó a través de la relación con una medida de rasgos de personalidad normal del Modelo de los Cinco Grandes Factores. Se trabajó con una muestra de tipo no probabilística de n = 525 sujetos de población general, que respondieron la versión adaptada del PID-5 y el Listado de Adjetivos para Evaluar la Personalidad. Los resultados brindaron evidencia de validez y confiabilidad para el instrumento. El Análisis Factorial Exploratorio y Confirmatorio sugirió un buen ajuste de la estructura pentafactorial. La consistencia interna resultó adecuada y los ítems presentaron buenos índices de discriminación. Se observaron diferencias de género y edad, y correlaciones con los factores correspondientes de los cinco grandes. Esta versión puede ser utilizada para evaluar el modelo, con fines tanto clínicos como de investigación, y con ventajas respecto al tiempo de administración respecto a la versión extensa original.


Abstract The official classification of personality disorders in the latest edition of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-5) remains categorical. However, a dimensional alternative for personality disorders is presented as an emerging model. The model is organized in five higher order domains (Negative Affectivity, Detachment, Antagonism, Disinhibition and Psychoticism), with relationships with the Big Five Model of Personality, strongly established within the Personality Psychology. The proposal also includes 25 facets or second-order traits, included within the main domains. Domains and facets represent psychopathological traits with clinical relevance. To assess this model, the Personality Inventory for DSM-5 (PID-5) was developed. PID-5 has two forms: extensive (220 items) that assesses domains and facets, and brief (25 items) that assesses only the domains. In a previous study, evidence for a short version (31 items) adapted to the Argentine population was provided, that overcomes some of the limitations of the original one. In this work, the psychometric properties of a reduced and modified version of the PID-5 are studied, which allows evaluating five domains and 25 facets, through a reduced number of items (108). We worked with a non-probabilistic sample of n = 525 subjects from the general population, who answered the adapted version of the PID-5 and the Adjectives Checklist to Assess the Big Five Personality Factors (AEP), a Big Five Model measure. The following data analyses were performed: (1) Exploratory and Confirmatory Factor Analysis to evaluate the internal structure of PID-5; (2) reliability analysis to assess the internal consistency of the PID-5 scales; (3) item analysis to assess discriminating power; (4) multivariate analysis of variance (MANOVA) to examine significant differences due to gender and age; and (5) bivariate correlation analysis to analyze PID-5 convergent validity. The results provided evidence of validity and reliability. Exploratory and Confirmatory Factor Analysis suggested a five-factor structure. The facets presented factor loadings in the domain theoretically expected, with some exceptions: Suspiciousness (loaded in Psychoticism), Hostility (loaded in Disinhibition), Depressivity (loaded in Detachment) and Insensitivity (loaded in Detachment). CFA also suggested a good model fit (CFI = .98; RMSEA = .04; SRMR = 0.083). Psychoticism, Detachment, and Disinhibition facets had their higher factor loadings in the expected domain. Negative affectivity showed higher correlations with the rest of the scales. Internal consistency was satisfactory, especially at the domain level, and the items had good discrimination indices. Correlations with the corresponding of the Big Five factors were observed, similar to previous studies. The five PID-5 domains were also found positively correlated. Additionally, gender and age differences were found. In line with previous literature, results suggest that some facets scales are "pure" markers of these domains (e. g., Psychoticism and Antagonism facets), whereas others (e. g., Negative Affectivity facets such as Depressiveness, Suspicion, Hostility), are located "in between" domains since they share features of more than one domain. Psychoticism facets presented higher loadings in their domains and lower in the rest. This is not surprising; although most of psychopathology cannot be understood as categories, schizophyte and Schizotypal Personality Disorder are exceptions, and Psychoticism would be the representation of these categories in the APA model. Findings also provide evidence of convergent validity for the instrument, as well as theorical evidence regarding the relationship between normal and pathological personality traits. This version can be used to evaluate the model, both in research and clinical practice. It has advantages over the original longer version, in terms of administration time and participants' fatigue, while maintaining its psychometric properties. The results are also expected to contribute to the recent literature on the dimensional approach to personality psychopathology. However, complementary studies, particularly with a clinical population, are needed.

Closed-loop transcranial ultrasound stimulation technology is based on real-time feedback signals, and has the potential for precise regulation of neural activity. In this paper, firstly the local field potential (LFP) and electromyogram (EMG) signals of mice under different intensities of ultrasound stimulation were recorded, then the mathematical model of ultrasound intensity and mouse LFP peak/EMG mean was established offline based on the data, and the closed-loop control system of LFP peak and EMG mean based on PID neural network control algorithm was simulated and built to realize closed-loop control of LFP peak and EMG mean of mice. In addition, using the generalized minimum variance control algorithm, the closed-loop control of theta oscillation power was realized. There was no significant difference between the LFP peak, EMG mean and theta power under closed-loop ultrasound control and the given value, indicating a significant control effect on the LFP peak, EMG mean and theta power of mice. Transcranial ultrasound stimulation based on closed-loop control algorithms provides a direct tool for precise modulation of electrophysiological signals in mice.

Background: Infection of the endometrium, fallopian tubes, ovaries, pelvic peritoneam, and adjacent structures is known as Pelvic Inflammatory Disease (PID). Pelvic inflammatory disease and its consequences are still at epidemic levels, Despite the availability of effective broad-spectrum antibiotics. Tubo-ovarian abscess (TAO) may be difficult to identify since the clinical signs are comparable to those of other pelvic and abdominal illnesses. Case Description: Here we are reporting a case, 34 years nulligravida came to emergency department with acute abdomen, she was a known case of chronic PID, Emergency laparotomy was performed, per operatively ruptured tubo-ovarian abscess was present. Conclusion: The clinical diagnosis of PID and TAO is similar, imaging evidence from ultrasonography (US) or magnetic resonance (MR) should be used to supplement the clinical diagnosis. Clinical Significance: To avoid complications and resultant emergency surgeries and their consequences, a vigilant eye must be kept to promptly diagnose, and manage PID at the earliest.

Background:Atherosclerotic disease is not only increased in incidence in type 2 diabetic patients, but its course is also accelerated. Stroke is one of the major causes of morbidity and mortality among the elderly population. The relationship between ischemic strokeand PAD (peripheral artery disease) has been poorly investigated in India. So, we studied the risk of stroke in PAD patients with type 2 diabetes. The aims and objectives of the study were to study the prevalence of PAD in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus and to study the correlation of stroke in PAD patients with type 2 diabetes.Methods:Hospital based cross-sectional study was conducted among the 124 patients admitted with type 2 diabetes (age >25 years) from December2019 to October2021 in the various units of department of medicine/surgery, KPS institute, GSVM medical college,Kanpur. Color Doppler of limbs and carotid artery was done in study population. Clinical sign and symptoms, history of stroke or diagnostic investigation were used for evaluate cerebrovascular events.Results:In our study based on doppler ultrasound, the prevalence of PAD was found in 31 patients (25%) out of 124 with men having a higher prevalence (24 out of 74; 77.4%), as compared to women (7 out of 50; 22.6%) (p=0.020). The prevalence of stroke was 32.3% in PAD patients and 11.8% in non-PAD patients (p=0.009).Conclusions:By using Doppler, we found evidence of PAD in 25% of type 2 diabetics (M>F). The prevalence of stroke was 32.3% in PAD patients and 11.8% in non-PAD patients (p=0.009). PAD is associated with an increased risk of cerebrovascular disease morbidity and mortality. Clinician should identify a PAD patient with diabetes to elicit symptoms, complications like stroke to decrease mortality or morbidity.

Objectives To study the incidence, clinical manifestations, and genetic spectrum of primary immunodefciency diseases (PID)/inborn errors of immunity (IEI) in a tertiary care hospital in Southern India. Methods A retrospective analysis of all patients with a clinical suspicion of PID/IEI seen at a tertiary care hospital was performed. All patients had at least one or more warning signs of PID. Serum immunoglobulin levels and other targeted investigations were performed as warranted by the clinical presentation. All families with suspected PID were counseled and ofered genetic testing. Results A total of 225 children were evaluated for PID during the study period of 6 y. Fifty-six of them did not meet the European Society of Immunodefciencies (ESID) criteria (working defnition of clinical diagnosis) and were excluded. An IEI was found in 30/49 (61.2%) patients. The most frequent reason for referral was recurrent/unusual or serious infections (28%), or cytopenia (16%). Group IV diseases of immune dysregulation was the most common category (19%), followed by group III predominant antibody defciencies in 23/163 (14%), as per the International Union of Immunological Societies (IUIS) classifcation. Conclusions This study highlights the heterogeneity of the present cohort, the underuse of genetic tests, and eforts to provide optimal care for children with possible IEI in this center.

Pelvic inflammatory disease(PID) has become one of the leading causes of female infertility, with an increasing incidence in recent years. Modern medicine believes that risk factors of PID will affect the formation of eggs and embryo implantation, especially on the encounter of gametes, fertilization, and transport of fertilized eggs to the uterine cavity. Therapies for infertility due to PID include medication, sonographic hydrotubation, surgery, and assisted reproductive technology. Professor Ma Kun believes that the disease is located in the uterus with appendages with the main pathogenesis of kidney deficiency and blood stasis. Blood stasis is the pathological basis, and kidney deficiency is the fundamental pathogenesis, which exhibits deficiency-excess in complexity. Kidney deficiency will cause blood stasis over time, while blood stasis will aggravate kidney deficiency in turn, making PID-induced infertility refractory. In clinical practice, basic therapies follow the principles of kidney-tonifying and blood-activating, removing blood stasis, dredging collaterals, and coordinating thoroughfare and conception vessels. The oral administration of Chinese medicine combined with enema, external application, and external washing displays better efficacy in improving the pelvic microenvironment and increasing the pregnancy rate and pregnancy success rate in the treatment of PID-induced infertility.

Resumen El DSM-5 presenta un modelo dimensional alternativo para los trastornos de personalidad, que incluye rasgos patológicos organizados en cinco grandes áreas: Desapego, Afectividad Negativa, Psicoticismo, Antagonismo y Desinhibición. Para evaluar dicho modelo, se desarrolló el Personality Inventory for DSM-5. El objetivo de este trabajo fue estudiar las propiedades psicométricas de una versión adaptada del instrumento a población argentina. Se trabajó con una muestra no probabilística de 393 sujetos de población general. Se administró la versión adaptada del Personality Inventory for DSM-5 junto con el Listado de Adjetivos para Evaluar Personalidad, una medida de los cinco rasgos del modelo de los Grandes Factores de Personalidad (Amabilidad, Responsabilidad, Extraversión, Neuroticismo y Apertura a la experiencia), equivalentes normales de los rasgos patológicos del modelo alternativo. Los resultados mostraron propiedades psicométricas satisfactorias. La versión argentina del Inventario mostró una estructura de cinco factores similar a la original, con niveles adecuados de consistencia interna e ítems con buenos índices de discriminación. Se observaron diferencias por género y edad. Los hombres puntuaron más alto en Antagonismo, Psicoticismo y Desapego, y las mujeres en Afectividad Negativa. Los jóvenes puntuaron más alto en todas las escalas salvo en Desapego. Por último, se encontraron correlaciones significativas con los cinco factores correspondientes del modelo de los "cinco grandes" (ej., entre Afectividad Negativa y Neuroticismo). Los resultados brindan evidencia preliminar de validez y confiabilidad para la versión local del instrumento, y se espera que sirvan como base para su posterior perfeccionamiento, para ser implementado en tareas clínicas como de investigación.


Abstract The DSM-5 presents an alternative dimensional model for personality disorders, which includes pathological traits organized in five major areas: Detachment, Negative affectivity, Psychoticism, Antagonism and Disinhibition. To evaluate this model, the Personality Inventory for DSM-5 (PID-5) was developed. However, it is unknown how the PID-5 would work adapted to our context. On the other hand, the PID-5 suffers from various limitations (e.g., not all facets are represented in the brief version, affecting the construct validity). The objective of this paper was to study the psychometric properties of an adapted version of the PID-5 to the Argentine population. We worked with a non-probabilistic sample of 393 subjects from the general population. The adapted version of the Personality Inventory for DSM-5 was administered together with the Adjectives Checklist to Assess the Big Five Personality Factors (AEP), a measure of the five traits of Big Five Model, normal equivalents of the pathological traits of the alternative model. The following data analyzes were performed: a) Exploratory Factor Analysis to evaluate the internal structure of PID-5; b) reliability analysis to assess the internal consistency of the different scales of the PID-5; c) item analysis to assess discriminating power; d) bivariate correlation analysis to analyze the relationship between PID-5 scores and the AEP; e) multivariate analysis of covariance (MANCOVA) to analyze significant differences due to gender, age, and possible interaction effects. Results indicated satisfactory psychometric properties. The Argentinean version of the PID-5 showed a five-factor structure similar to the original, with adequate levels of internal consistency and good discrimination indices. Regarding gender, men scored higher in Antagonism, Psychoticism and Detachment, and the effect size was significant although weak. On the other hand, women scored higher in negative affectivity, but the differences were not significant. Regarding age, young people presented higher scores than adults at all scales except in Detachment, and the effect size was significant although weak. Finally, significant relationships were found with the five factors of the big five model (e.g., strong and positive correlation between Negative Affectivity and Neuroticism; moderate and negative correlations between Detachment and Extraversion, and between Disinhibition and Conscientiousness). Additionally, other high correlations were found (e.g., between Agreeableness and Detachment; Conscientiousness and Psychoticism; Neuroticism and Disinhibition). These results are in line with those found in previous studies. Finally, moderate correlations were found between PID-5 scales (e.g., Disinhibition and Antagonism; Negative Affectivity and Disinhibition; Psychoticism and Disinhibition; and Detachment and Negative Affectivity). These correlations would imply the existence of some higher order factor that would cover the dimensions of the model. Although the results found are acceptable, this study has some limitations. First, we worked with general population, and in future work it would be important to administer the instrument in clinical samples. Second, the Antagonism scale was left with only 4 items, which may affect the construct validity of the instrument. In this regard, it would be convenient to add new items, not only on this scale, to obtain a final version with an intermediate length between 25 and 220 items of the two versions of the original scale. A version of approximately 60 items may be a good solution, that includes both the different facets of the model as well as time constraints if the instrument is pretended to be used within a diagnostic battery. Beyond these limitations, the present study provides preliminary evidence of validity and reliability for the adapted version of the PID 5, and could be a start point for its deepening and improvement to be implemented in clinical and research tasks.

Abstract Objective To describe the process of cross-cultural adaptation of the Personality Inventory for DSM-5 (PID-5) to the Brazilian context. Methods Cross-cultural adaptation involved the steps of independent translation of the instrument, synthesis version, and back-translation. Analysis of content validity was conducted by a multidisciplinary expert committee and consisted of quantitative assessment of agreement indicators. The test was then applied to a target population. Results All the steps required for a cross-cultural adaptation were followed and satisfactory agreement values (≥ 4.75) were reached for most of the structures assessed. Most of the changes suggested by the experts were followed; these changes consisted primarily of adjustments to verb tense and agreement and the inclusion of letters and words to allow gender inflection. In the pre-test, no suggestions were made and the instrument was considered comprehensible. Conclusion The Brazilian version of the PID-5 was found to be adequate to the Brazilian context from semantic, idiomatic, cultural, and conceptual perspectives. The Brazilian version assessed here can be freely used, was approved by the publishers who hold the copyright on the instrument, and is considered the official version of the instrument. New studies are underway to determine the validity and reliability of the PID-5.


Resumo Objetivo Apresentar o processo de adaptação transcultural do Personality Inventory for DSM-5 (PID-5) para o contexto brasileiro. Métodos A adaptação transcultural envolveu as etapas de tradução independente, versão síntese e retrotradução. A validade de conteúdo foi realizada por um comitê multidisciplinar de especialistas, com avaliação quantitativa dos índices de concordância. Por fim, o pré-teste foi conduzido com a população-alvo. Resultados Todos os estágios da adaptação transcultural foram seguidos, e na maioria das estruturas avaliadas, os valores de concordância foram satisfatórios (≥ 4.75). Grande parte das sugestões de modificações feitas pelos especialistas foram acatadas, sendo as principais relacionadas a ajustes no tempo e concordância verbal e a inclusão de letras e palavras para permitir a flexão de gênero. No pré-teste nenhuma sugestão foi apresentada e o instrumento foi considerado compreensível. Conclusão A versão brasileira do PID-5 mostrou-se adequada ao contexto brasileiro sob as perspectivas semântica, idiomática, cultural e conceitual. A versão brasileira avaliada é de uso livre, foi aprovada pelas editoras responsáveis pelos direitos autorais do instrumento e é considerada oficial. Novos estudos estão sendo conduzidos para aprimorar a busca por evidencias de validade e confiabilidade.

Background: Family planning is important not only for population stabilization, but it has been increasingly recognized as central tool to improve maternal and neonatal health. Aim of current study was to compare interval and post partum intrauterine contraceptive device (IUCD) insertion in terms of effectiveness and safety.Methods: This was a prospective observational cohort study, done in the department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, GMERS Medical College, Sola, Ahmedabad, from August 2015 to April 2017 was taken for evaluation. 80 women in each group who were inserted IUCD after delivery and in the interval period were studied. Outcome was measured by expulsion rate, continuation rate, and incidence of dysfunctional uterine bleeding (DUB), Pelvic inflammatory disease (PID), failure rate and effect on puerperium.Results: Expulsion rate in PPIUCD group was 8.75% while in interval IUCD group it was 1.25%. Continuation rate following Postpartum intrauterine contraceptive device (PPIUCD) and interval IUCD insertion was 86.25% and 95% respectively. Incidence of bleeding per vaginum (menorrhagia) was 7.5% in PPIUCD group while 8.75% in interval IUCD group. There was one case 1.25% of PID in interval IUCD group while no case in PPIUCD was noted. Failure rate was nil in both the group. There was no effect on puerperium following PPIUCD insertion group during present study.Conclusions: PPIUCD is an effective and safe spacing method of contraception as compared to interval IUCD insertion. There is no statistically significant change in incidence of expulsion rate, continuation rate and other complications in both the group.

Chlamydia trachomatis is the most common bacterial sexually transmitted diseases (STD) and is associated with gynecological disorders like pelvic inflammatory disease (PID), infertility and habitual abortion. The present study was carried out in 85 women who had complaints of symptoms like PID, infertility and habitual abortion. These women were recruited from the Gynaecology OPD of GSVM Medical College, Kanpur between January 2008 to September 2009. Both routine Papsmear examination and Chlamydial antigen detection test was performed in the sample collected from the cervix. Chlamydia was detected in 22 of the 85 cases (25.8%). Inflammatory changes were commonly associated with Chlamydia (77.2%) while squamous intraepithelial lesion (SIL) of cervix was seen in 22.8% of cases. The Chlamydia was very common in the younger sexually active group of 21- 30 years and was associated with PID in 30.7% of cases, with infertility in 21.0% and with habitual abortion in 14.2% of cases. Routine cytological screening is needed in all symptomatic women especially those complaining of pain in lower abdomen and vaginal discharge and also asymptomatic women to detect Chlamydia to facilitate their timely treatment.

Background: Post-partum intra-uterine contraceptive device is one of the important methods of spacing to meet up the unmet need of family planning. The low complication rate, ease and certainty of insertion and one-time adoption advantages made it an option of family planning by Government of India. In the background of recent trends in family planning, the study aims to establish the efficacy and draw-backs of PP-IUCD among the clients in a tertiary care hospital of West Bengal.Methods: Prospective observational study on 1680 women during January 2016 to December 2016, where the PP-IUCD was given to the patients after vaginal delivery or Cesarean section and were followed up to 3 months.Results: During the study 1.37% patients did not turnup in either follow-up. The most common complication encountered was missing thread (4.64% at 6th week follow-up and 6.67% at 3rd month follow-up). Expulsion rate was much lower (2.02% at 6th week and 2.5% at 3rd month). Heavy bleeding per-vagina was in 1.55% at 6th week and 2.08% at 3rd month. Pain abdomen was .83% at 6th week and 1.67% at 3rd month. Incidence of perforation and failure was both nil at either follow-up. Dysmenorrhea was complained 2.44% at 6th week and 3.33% at 3rd month. Overall satisfaction rate at 6th week (86.05%) was higher than non-satisfaction (13.95%). This was also true for 3rd month where satisfaction rate (77.85%) was higher than non-satisfaction rate (22.15%).Conclusions: PP-IUCD appears to be a safe, efficacious, acceptable and accessible method of contraception.

Microwave thermal ablation technology is widely used in the treatment of liver tumors because of its minimal invasiveness and small side effects. The precise control of the thermal dose largely determines the therapeutic effect of microwave thermal ablation. However, the current magnetron-based microwave thermal ablation device has the disadvantages of poor power output stability and high operating voltage. In view of the above problems, this paper selected the microwave solid-state source as the core device of microwave output, and designed a dual-frequency microwave thermal ablation system based on 2 450 MHz and 433 MHz. The system used the power detection circuit to perform PID feedback control on the actual output power of the system. The experimental results show that the maximum output power of the system is less than 1 W. The PID algorithm further enhances the accuracy and stability of the system output power while improving the system security. The dual-frequency microwave thermal ablation system designed in this paper can provide a safe and reliable experimental platform for subsequent research.

Objective To develop a sinusoidal alternating magnetic field therapy system in order to overcome the disadvantages of the single output frequency and the low effective value of the output magnetic field strength of the alternating magnetic field therapy system in the market,of which the frequency and magnetic density both were continuously adjustable. Methods Multi winding Helmholtz coil was used as the magnetic field generator.On the basis of inverter technology,bipolar equivalent area method considering dead zone and variable speed integral incremental PID control algorithm were used to achieve the accuracy control of magnetic frequency and density in the coil.The accuracy of the resulting waveform and the accuracy of the magnetic field strength was verified by simulation calculation and system current and magnetic field strength test.Results The magnetic field treatment system gained high performance,total harmonic distortion (THD)of sine wave met the requirements of international standards.The obtained magnetic density was as expected of the simulation and calculation. Conclusion The device provides continuously adjustable magnetic field,which has a positive effect on the research for the medical staff, and technical references are provided to the research of magnetic field therapy system.

OBJECTIVE To investigate the effect of phosphotyrosine interaction domain containing 1 (PID1, NYGGF4) onpromotion of IR and HCC, and explore its underlying mechanisms. METHODS Lentivirus were used to mediate the knockdown of PID1 in HFD induced IR mouse model as well as ob/ob mice. Intraperitoneal glucose and insulin tolerance were performed 4 weeks after lentivirus injection. Hydrodynamics-based transfection was applied to induce the liver specific overexpression of PID1. Flow cytometry was exerted to detect the proportion and function of immune cells.qRT-PCR and Western blot were used to detect the expression of downstream pathways of PID1. Liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS) and co-immunoprecipitation (Co-IP) were conducted to identify proteins interacting with PID1.Chromatin immunoprecipitation(ChIP)was operated to measure the modification of H3K4me3 of PID1 promoter.RESULTS PID1 restriction improved insulin resistance,hyperglycemia and fatty liver. Conversely, hepatic knockdown of PID1 attenuated liver xenografted tumor growth. Moreover,PID1 liver-specific protooncogenes via hydrodynamics-based transfection established a primary hepatocellular carcinoma mouse model,induced an immunosuppressive environment,with the reduction of CD3+,CD4+,CD8+T cells,retarded maturation of dendritic cells(DCs),pronounced differentiation of regulatory T cells(Tregs),and recruitment of MDSC.In addition,PID1 overexpression activated prolifer-ation related genes, promoted anti-inflammatory genes, suppressed pro-inflammatory genes, induced glycolysis and lipid metabolism genes to facilitate tumorigenesis in liver. Importantly, PID1 exerted its tumor-promoting function through binding to epidermal growth factor receptor(EGFR)and activation of downstream KRAS/ERK pathway.As such,PID1 exist trimethylation of histone H3 at lysine 4(H3K4me3) modification and IR up-regulated the expression of PID1 by activation the H3K4me3 modification. CONCLUSION PID1 is a new gene that exerts both liver cancer-promoting and insulin resistance inducing function.IR accelerates liver cancer development and progression partially dependent on the activation of PID1.

Streptococcus pneumoniae es un patógeno habitual en infecciones del tracto respiratorio y representa la causa más frecuente de neumonía, otitis media y sinusitis. Excepcionalmente, y de forma transitoria, puede colonizar el tracto genital inferior y ser causa de enfermedad pélvica inflamatoria y peritonitis secundaria. El objetivo es presentar un caso con el diagnóstico de absceso tubo-ovárico izquierdo con un germen poco común en esta localización. Se presenta el caso de una paciente de 52 años, histerectomizada desde hace 12 años con una inmunodepresión secundaria como factor predisponente para el desarrollo de esta complicación. Se realizó laparotomía y se realizó exéresis de la tumoración y el cultivo microbiológico del contenido de ella. Se diagnosticó una infección por Streptococcus pneumoniae. La evolución posoperatoria fue satisfactoria(AU)


Streptococcus pneumoniae is a common pathogen in respiratory tract infections and the most common cause of pneumonia, otitis media, and sinusitis. Exceptionally, and transiently, it can colonize the lower genital tract causing pelvic inflammatory disease and secondary peritonitis. The objective is to present a case with left tube-ovarian abscess diagnosis, with a rare germ at this location. The case of a 52-year-old patient is reported here. She was hysterectomized 12 years before with secondary immunosuppression as a predisposing factor for developing this complication. A laparotomy was performed and excision of the tumor and microbiological culture of the contents of the tumor were completed. Streptococcus pneumoniae was diagnosed. Postoperative evolution was satisfactory(AU)

Objective To design the control system of a magnetic resonance image (MRI) navigated pneumatic surgical robot. Method The driven system of the robot was constructed by combining with pneumatically driven and ultrasonic motor. The cylinder position control loop was established based on proportion integration differentiation (PID) control. The mathematical model of the pneumatic servo system was established by system identification. The PID parameter tuning and the simulation of the system characteristics were conducted. The stability analysis was conducted using the Nyquist criterion, and the acupuncture accuracy and the magnetic compatibility of the robot were verified. Results The simulation results showed that the maximum steady-state error was about 0.4 mm and the maximum tracking error was less than 2 mm, indicating that the PID control system had high control precision and trajectory tracking ability. The error of the acupuncture accuracy test was 0.72 mm. The results of water-modeling experiments showed that the magnetic resonance images were clear indicating that the influence of the robot on the MRI images was small. Conclusions The results of imulation, acupuncture and water-modeling tests showed that the pneumatic robot system can meet the requirements of brachytherapy surgery.

Producing accurate pulsatile flow rates is essential for many in vitro experimental studies in biofluid dynamics research. A controller system was developed to control a flow loop to produce easily adjustable pulsatile flow rates with sufficient accuracy. An Arduino board is used as a micro-controller to control a pump to produce various pulsatile flow rates, and an open-source proportional-integral-derivative (PID) control algorithm is developed for this purpose. Four non-trivial pulsatile waveforms were produced by the PID controller, as well as an iterative controller, and the performance of both controllers was evaluated. Both the PID and iterative controllers were able to successfully produce slowly-varying signals (single and multi-harmonic low frequency sine waves), but for high frequency signals where the flow has strong acceleration/deceleration (e.g. for physiological waveforms) the iterative controller exhibited significant undershoot. The comparison of PID and iterative controllers suggests that if the desired flow rate is a low frequency, simple waveform then the iterative controller is preferred due to simplicity of implementation. However, if the desired signal is rapidly changing and more complicated then the PID controller achieves better results. This system can be implemented in many flow loops due to its simplicity and low cost, and does not require a mathematical model of the system.

Objective To design a temperature control strategy for wave bioreactors.Methods According to the requirements of temperature control precision and response speed of wave bioreactors,the traditional PID control method was combined with fuzzy control method which was used to adjust the parameters of the PID control in real time online in order to strengthen the ability of the temperature control strategy to regulate temperature.Results A fuzzy PID controller was completed and simulation results were compared with the traditional PID controller.Conclusion The fuzzy PID control method has a smaller overshoot and shorter stability than the traditional one, so it has a higher temperature control performance.

Background & objectives: In India, community based data on chronic obstetric morbidities (COM) are scanty and largely derived from hospital records. The main aim of the study was to assess the community based prevalence and the factors associated with the defined COM - obstetric fistula, genital prolapse, chronic pelvic inflammatory disease (PID) and secondary infertility among women in Nashik district of Maharashtra State, India. Methods: The study was cross-sectional with self-reports followed by clinical and gynaecological examination. Six primary health centre areas in Nashik district were selected by systematic random sampling. Six months were spent on rapport development with the community following which household interviews were conducted among 1560 women and they were mobilized to attend health facility for clinical examination. Results: Of the 1560 women interviewed at household level, 1167 women volunteered to undergo clinical examination giving a response rate of 75 per cent. The prevalence of defined COM among 1167 women was genital prolapse (7.1%), chronic PID (2.5%), secondary infertility (1.7%) and fistula (0.08%). Advancing age, illiteracy, high parity, conduction of deliveries by traditional birth attendants (TBAs) and obesity were significantly associated with the occurrence of genital prolapse. History of at least one abortion was significantly associated with secondary infertility. Chronic PID had no significant association with any of the socio-demographic or obstetric factors. Interpretation & conclusions: The study findings provided an insight in the magnitude of community-based prevalence of COM and the factors associated with it. The results showed that COM were prevalent among women which could be addressed by interventions at personal, social and health services delivery level.
