A psicologia teórica e filosófica como uma área de pesquisa acadêmica / Philosophical and theoretical psychology as a field of academic research

Pesquisas filosóficas e conceituais vêm sendo reiteradamente apontadas como necessárias na Psicologia, dada a caracterização da disciplina como excessivamente centrada no método e na coleta de dados empíricos. Em resposta a isso, ocorreu ao longo das últimas décadas o surgimento de uma nova área de pesquisa, a Psicologia Teórica e Filosófica. Com o objetivo de fornecer uma introdução a este campo, são destacados alguns dos principais periódicos, programas de pós-graduação e instituições que produzem conhecimento nesta vertente. Procurou-se delimitar o escopo e o objetivo da Psicologia Teórica e Filosófica. Foram revisados diferentes autores que procuraram estabelecer quais as suas principais atividades, para isso foram elencados alguns exemplos de pesquisas importantes, e concluiu-se a relevância do fomento deste tipo de pesquisa para a Psicologia como um todo.

The need for philosophical and conceptual psychology research has been repeatedly pointed out due to the characterization of the discipline as excessively focused on method and empirical data collection. In the last few decades, a new area of research has been developed to meet these demands, the Philosophical and Theoretical Psychology. With the aim of providing an introduction to this area, we highlighted some of the main journals, graduate programs and institutions that are involved in the production of knowledge in this field. We tried to establish the scope and purposes of the Theoretical and Philosophical Psychology. We reviewed different authors who sought to establish the main activities in this field. Thus, we provide some examples of important research, and we concluded that the encouragement of this kind of inquiry is indeed relevant to Psychology.

A revisão das antinomias na psicologia: Do racionalismo cientificista ao estruturalismo / The review of antinomies in psychology: From scientific rationalism to structuralism

Neste ensaio, sustentamos a ideia de que o pensamento estruturalista faz parte da crítica espontânea aos reducionismos que cercam a psicologia. Partimos da cisão radical entre o ponto de vista cientificista e o da metafísica que se expressa nos projetos de psicologia científica do fim do século XIX. Em seguida, destacamos a importância da perspectiva estruturalista na revisão das relações antinômicas do subjetivo e do objetivo operada no seio da Psicologia ao longo do século XX. Mostramos que a rejeição da causalidade unilinear em prol da causalidade em rede freou o avanço das teorias unilaterais, ou reducionistas, na psicologia. Consideramos, ademais, a ideia de estrutura como ponto de convergência entre a psicologia e a filosofia. Acima de seu caráter explicativo, a noção de estrutura revela um registro epistemológico capaz de reaproximar a psicologia da relativização do ideal de neutralidade cientificista. A importância do pensamento estruturalista na psicologia conduz-nos à consideração da história do conhecimento psicológico enquanto tipo de investigação pertencente à história da cultura.

In this essay, we sustain the idea that structuralist thinking is part of spontaneous criticism against the reductionisms that surround psychology. We depart from the radical split-up between the scientific viewpoint and that of metaphysics, expressed in the end-19th century scientific psychology projects. Next, we highlight the importance of the structuralist perspective in the review of the antinomic relations between the subjective and objective, operated at the heart of psychology throughout the 20th century. We show that the rejection of unilineal causality in favor of network causality curbed the advancement of unilateral or reductionist theories in psychology. Moreover, we consider the idea of structure as a point of convergence between psychology andphilosophy. More than its explanatory nature, the notion of structure reveals an epistemological register capable of re-approximating psychology to the relativization of the ideal of scientificneutrality. The importance of structuralist thinking in psychology makes us consider the history of psychological knowledge as a type of research that belongs to cultural history.

Psicologia filosófica no século XIX: faculdades da alma e relações entre inteligência, sensibilidade e vontade / Philosophical psychology in the 19th century: soul faculties and relations among intelligence, sensibility and will

Situado no campo da História dos saberes psicológicos no Brasil, o presente artigo apresenta dois compêndios produzidos em Minas Gerais nos anos de 1847 e 1849, cujo tema é a descrição da estrutura e do funcionamento das faculdades da alma humana e da origem das idéias. As obras trazem uma sistematização sobre os conceitos de alma, inteligência, consciência, sensibilidade e vontade. A partir da descrição de tais conceitos é possível evidenciar a filiação destas obras às matrizes teóricas, principalmente francesas, tais como a ideologia e o espiritualismo eclético. Ao final comenta-se a relação entre autores, e o modo de apropriação de conhecimento textual, como evidenciado na escrita dos autores mineiros pela forma de se referenciar aos originais europeus.

Set in the field of the history of psychological knowledge, the present article presents two publications issued in the state of Minas Gerais in 1847 and 1849, approaching the description of the structure and performance of the faculties of the human soul and the genesis of the ideas. The works unveiled systematization over the concepts of the soul, intelligence, consciousness, sensibility and will. From the description of such concepts it is possible to bring into evidence the theoretical matrixes, mainly French ones, such as the ideology and the eclectic spiritualism. At the end, it is noted the relationship between the authors and the procedures to get property of the textual knowledge, as it is evidenced in the texts by the writers from Minas Gerais, based on the way Europeans original works are referred to.
