RESUMO
O presente ensaio pretende compartilhar uma reflexão crítica construída durante um período no Haiti, antes do advento do terremoto, em que a autora participou de uma missão médica humanitária. Em face do Haiti ao vivo, questiona-se a imagem superficial que a opinião pública possui sobre o país, ignorando-se tanto o estado de degradação humana em que se encontra a nação - parcialmente revelada ao mundo depois do terremoto - quanto as forças políticas e interesses econômicos internacionais que provocaram e sustentam esta realidade. Faz-se uma reflexão sobre os processos mistificadores, dos quais participam as agências internacionais de notícias, e sobre o mal político que historicamente tem mantido esta população em um estado de abandono e exploração, bem como em um estado perpétuo de sofrimento psíquico e humano extremo muito além da noção de mal-estar. A partir do contexto haitiano, apontam-se também os mecanismos que culpabilizam unicamente as nações pobres pelos seus males, ocultando os verdadeiros violadores dos direitos humanos e econômicos.
This essay seeks to share critical reflection based on time spent in Haiti before the advent of the earthquake where the author participated on a humanitarian medical aid mission. After experiencing Haiti face to face, we came to question the superficial image that the public has about the country, disregarding both the state of human degradation present in the nation - partially revealed to the world after the earthquake - and the political forces and international economic interests that provoke and sustain this reality. The paper also reflects on the mystification processess in which international news agencies participate and the political evil that historically has kept this population in a state of neglect and exploitation as well as in a perpetual state of extreme psychic and human suffering far beyond the notion of discontentment. The mechanisms that solely blame the poor nations for their ills by hiding the real violators of human and economic rights are also pointed out from a Haitian point of view.
