Lung cancer is a chronic pathology that favors physical and pulmonary dysfunction, affecting heal-th-related quality of life, as well as a range of economic, emotional, and social dependencies. Pulmo-nary rehabilitation proves to be a treatment option that offers benefits in physical condition, auto-nomy and quality of life. Objective: To present the changes of a pulmonary rehabilitation program in a patient with a history of bronchogenic cancer undergoing lung wedge surgery. Method: Case study of a patient who was referred for pulmonary rehabilitation after having undergone a wedge resection due to bronchogenic cancer. An evaluation was made at the beginning and at the end of the study, recording sociodemographic, clinics and quality of life variables. There were 8 weeks of training three times per week of endless aerobic exercise, muscle strengthening and individual and group educatio-nal meetings. Results: The functional capacity assessed with the six-minute walk test shows an impro-vement of 39 meters in the traveled distance. Quality of life improves after the rehabilitation program by associating it with the domains to join the activities of daily living. Discussion: The pulmonary rehabilitation program had positive results regarding functional capacity and quality of life; quality life results can be complemented with the European organization's questionnaire for lung cancer.

RESUMO

Objective To explore the functioning and disability and individualized rehabilitation strategies for children with cerebral pal-sy using ICF-CY. Methods ICF-CY core set for children with cerebral palsy was used, and literatures of functioning and disability (motor function) and physical activity and exercise rehabilitation for children with cerebral palsy were reviewed systematically. Based on the theo-retical framework of ICF-CY and the theories of children's development, the rehabilitation strategies for children with cerebral palsy were discussed. Results The main functioning and disability for children with cerebral palsy were impairment of brain structure and nerve system-and motor function at body level;activity limitation and participation restriction in cognition, mobility and self-care, and restriction in partic-ipation in games, leisure and educational activities at individual level and related environmental factors. The rehabilitation strategies of chil-dren with cerebral palsy should be based on the physical structure and function, activities and participation, as well as environmental factors, to develop programs that met the characteristics of the individual. Conclusion The characteristics of functioning and disability for children with cerebral palsy were analyzed using ICF-CY. Individualized rehabilitation strategies should be developed to promote the overall develop-ments for children with cerebral palsy.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND:Rehabilitation training equipments play an important role in the rehabilitation treatment. Because of poor muscle strength and joint mobility in patients, we must guarantee the safety of rehabilitation training equipments. OBJECTIVE:To design a new suitable man-machine interface that ensures patients can use rehabilitation equipments and even parts of fitness equipments safely. METHODS:Through user experience research, we found the flaws of the existing rehabilitation equipment. Depending on the principles of ergonomics, we designed a new man-machine interface for upper limb exercise through survey and computer-aided design. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:The new man-machine interface program achieves the rapid wear and discharge between patients and rehabilitation training equipment, and importantly, it can automatical y separate people from the equipment when the patient's body discomforts or equipment failure appears. What’s more, this man-machine interface can be promoted to other fitness equipments. As a result, rehabilitation training for patients wil be more convenient.
