RESUMO

【Objective】 To explore the influencing factors of adolescent runaway and its correlation with family health so as to provide epidemiological evidence for future comprehensive interventions. 【Methods】 Using the quota sampling method, 1 065 adolescents aged 12-18 years old were surveyed by Questionnaire Star in 120 cities in China from July to September 2021. A well-developed electronic questionnaire was used to collect information about demographic characteristics, psychological characteristics, family health, social support, and behavior of running away from home. Univariate analysis and Logistic regression were used to explore the influencing factors of adolescent runaway and its correlation with family health. 【Results】 A total of 1 065 adolescents were investigated, among whom 334 were the only children (31.36%) and 442 were boys (41.50%). Univariate analysis revealed that 7.6% of teenagers had the experience of running away from home in the last 30 days. Participants who were ethnic minorities (P=0.031) and had education of technical school or junior college (P=0.029) and a low family income (P<0.001) were more likely to have running away behavior. Adolescents with low self-efficacy (P=0.005), depression (P<0.001), anxiety (P<0.001), and more stress had higher detection rates of runaway behavior. However, adolescents with higher family health and social support were less likely to run away from home (P<0.01). Multivariate analysis showed that compared with adolescents with low family health, adolescents with high (OR=0.16, 95% CI: 0.06-0.46) and moderate (OR=0.27, 95% CI: 0.14-0.55) family health had a significantly lower risk of runaway behavior. 【Conclusion】 The family is of great significance in preventing teenagers from running away from home. Parents should build a good parent-child relationship and create a happy family atmosphere to reduce the occurrence of teenagers running away from home.

Participated in the therapeutic process a six-year-old male child, who was brought to the clinic by his mother. The main complaint was related to the boy's questions about how his father died. The father committed suicide when the boy was two years old due to a long period of illness. The client's questions about how the father had died were reported by the mother as a source of distress for her, as she did not know if she should tell him. With this, the main therapeutic goal was to increase the client's knowledge about the father. Mother intervention sessions were also planned. The content of the questions about the father and the responses of the mother was taken as the behavioral measures observed. Overall 25 sessions were held, 12 with the child and 13 with the mother. It was observed that the content of the boy's questions shifted focus during the therapeutic process. It was concluded that the client's initial questions regarding the father's death were maintained by the lack of information about him as a result of the mother's evasive behavior when the client requested such information.(AU)

RESUMO

OBJECTIVES: This study investigated the relationship between depression, attachment and addiction problems in runaway youths. METHODS: We sent a questionnaire package to 187 runaway youths in 18 adolescent shelters. The questionnaire package collected their sociodemographic data and included the Patient Health Questionnaire-9, Inventory of Parent Attachment (IPA), Korean Internet Addiction Self-Scale (K-Scale), Korean version of Alcohol Use Disorders Identification Test, and Korean version of the Fagerström Test for Nicotine Dependence. RESULTS: The percentage of youth with depression was 28.8% (N=54). In the depression group, there were significantly more problematic alcohol users (53.06%, p=.0199) and significantly lower IPA scores (p=.0064). There was a significant negative correlation between depression and a IPA, and significant positive correlation between depression and the K-Scale. CONCLUSION: These results suggest that runaway youths with depression have more problematic alcohol drinking and attachment problems.

Introduction: the studies on the coping with distress generated by sexual difficulties in diabetes mellitus persons are scanty. Objectives: to identify the coping strategies of a group of men with type 2 diabetes mellitus against the distress generated by erectile dysfunction and to explore the relationship between these strategies and their perceived and referred requirements. Methods: cross sectional and descriptive study combining qualitative and quantitative methods. Ten men with type 2 diabetes mellitus and secondary erectile dysfunction participated in it. The instruments were Coping Modes Scale of RS Lazarus and S. Folkman, Ten-desire technique and semi-structured interview. The quantitative information was processed by using absolute values, percentages and means (according to data or instrument used) and the qualitative one through extracting general topics, categories and contents. Theoretical and source triangulation was carried out. Ethical aspects were taken into consideration. Results: the subjects were 51.6 years-old as average, higher and middle-higher education and all were living in Havana. There were divergences among the strategies mentioned in the questionnaire and the interview in the former, the subjects stated the search for social support more frequently (mean of 1.8) whereas in the latter, they mostly mentioned runaway-avoidance, through emerging and coadjutant strategies such as lack of interest in information, search of external causes and search of new experiences. Fundamental needs and motivations were expressed in the sexual-marital area. Conclusions: the participants used emotional management as a fundamental way of coping with erectile dysfunction distress, through the runaway-avoidance strategy. This event, the importance given to sexuality and other discussed aspects in the article give rise to important psychosexual vulnerabilities in the studied subjects(AU)

RESUMO

PURPOSE: This study carried out a preliminary analysis of available literature and used the ecological approach to define a research hypothesis with focus on individual, family, and school variables related to early adolescents' urge to run away. This study also aimed to examine the influence of each of these variables in order to build a forecast model showing which variables have more influential on early adolescents' urge to run away. METHODS: Materials were collected from 433 male and female fifth- and sixth-grade students at two schools in Gyeonggi Province. Analysis was carried out using SPSS/WIN 18.0. Frequency analysis, chi2-test, t-test, correlation analysis and logistic regression analysis were conducted. RESULTS: The results indicate that personal factors related to runaway impulse are gender and previous runaway attempts, family-related factor family functionality, and school-related factor the area of stress from study. CONCLUSION: Based on the study results as above, individual, family, and school interventions need to be developed.

RESUMO

PURPOSE: In recent years, the problem of runaway youths, which is rapidly increasing and worsening in nature, has emerged as a serious problem to individuals, home and the society as a whole. Against this back drop, this study was designed to illuminate the danger signals through extensive analysis of factors influencing the running away of middle-school students and, on this basis, build a forecast model on runaway middle-school students. METHOD: The subjects of this descriptive survey on the causal relation were 592 subjects enrolled in middle schools selected through convenience sampling. The data collected from June 19 to July 19, 2003 were analysed through the SPSS 10.0 program. The differences between the runaway group and the non-runaway group were determined through chi-square and t-test. Also logistic regression analysis was conducted on the basis of the purposeful selection method for constructing the forecast model. RESULT: The findings are as follows: Individual-related factors predicting runaway middle-school students were smoking experience, delinquent experience, psychosomatic symptoms and stress. A home-related factor was attachment to family. A society-related factor was the number of delinquency friends. CONCLUSION: The findings of this study suggest that a broad intervention program should be provided to middle-school students' culture related to runaway group. It is also recommended that a variety of individual, home and society-related programs should be developed for the runaway group.
