RESUMO

Objective To construct a rating scale on the knowledge, attitude, and practice of geriatrics for 8-year clinical medical students and undergraduate nursing students, and to test the reliability and validity of the scale. Methods The Knowledge,Attitude,Practice(KAP)theory was used as a guided framework, relative literatures were reviewed, and topics for question answering were discussed by experts group. Then,a questionnaire was initially constructed.Five methods, including discrete trend method,Cronbach coefficient,t-test,correlation analysis, and factor analysis, were used to screen the attitude and practice items. The knowledge items were evaluated by experts.Items with over three exclusion criteria were deleted when combining the literal questions. The construct validity of the integrated scale was assessed by factor analysis.A pilot research was conducted by 100 eight-year medical students and nursing undergraduates selecting question entries, and the reliability and validity of the scale were examined. Results The scale consisted of three dimensions.A 43-item initiate questionnaire on the scale included 13 items for knowledge,11 for attitude, and 19 for practice. Two knowledge items were deleted according to expert evaluation.Seven items with more than three exclusion criteria were deleted after statistical analyses.Eventually,34 items were included in the questionnaire. The Cronbach α coefficient of the questionnaire was 0.702.And three common factors were extracted according to exploratory factor analysis. Conclusions The reliability and validity of Geriatrics Knowledge,Attitude and Practice scale for eight year medical students and nursing undergraduates are acceptable, but the knowledge items should be recomposed.

RESUMO

@#Objective To investigate the reliability and validity of Simple Facial Grading System (SFGS) in patients with idiopathic facial palsy. Methods 80 patients with idiopathic facial palsy were evaluated with the House-Brackmann (H-B) scale and SFGS before and every 2 weeks after treatment until 12 weeks or recovery. They were assessed by 2 testers before and 2 weeks after treatment. The results were analyzed and compared. Results The Cronbach's α coefficient was 0.93 of SFGS, and 0.74 of H-B scale. The intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC) between testers was 0.84 or higher of SFGS, and 0.77 or higher of H-B scale. The Spearman's rank correlation coefficient between SFGS and H-B scale was 0.73, Kappa coefficients was 0.81 for grade II, 0.74 for grade III, 0.49 for grade IV, 0.66 for grade V, and 0.92 for grade VI. The scores of SFGS and H-B scale positively correlated with the recovery time. Conclusion SFGS is a kind of evaluation for peripheral facial paralysis with satisified reliability and validity, which can be applied to evaluate the severity and outcome during acute stage.

RESUMO

@#Objective To evaluate the validity, reliability and feasibility of Traditional Chinese Medicine Scale for Children with Cerebral Palsy. Methods34 children with cerebral palsy and 34 healthy children were assessed with the Traditional Chinese Medicine Scale for Children with Cerebral Palsy. The split-half reliability, Cronbach's α coefficient, content reliability, difference validity and feasibility were tested. ResultsSplit-half reliability of this scale was 0.6199, Cronbach's α>0.7. The scores of this scale could differentiate the cerebral palsy from health children. The acceptance rate and the completion rate were both 100%. The median of the complete time was 10~15 minutes. ConclusionThe Traditional Chinese Medicine Scale for Children with Cerebral Palsy is a tool to evaluate cerebral palsy with satisfactory reliability, validity and feasibility.

RESUMO

@#ObjectiveTo explore the reliability of Modified Ashworth Scales(MAS) measuring muscular tone of lower extremities of children with spastic cerebral palsy(CP).Methods31 children with spastic CP(19 males, 12 females) were included in this study. The mean age for the children was (51.3±26.8) months; 20 diplegia, 7 quadriplegia, 4 hemiplegia. The muscle tone of hip adductor, hamstring, soleus muscles were tested bilaterally with MAS in lower extremity of the children. Two evaluators used the MAS to assesse the muscles tone of children. To compare with the relativity of the results of interrater and intrarater, the reliability was confirmed.ResultsThe reliability of interrater was poor, the total ICC value was 0.68, while better for the reliability of intrarater, the total ICC value was 0.83.ConclusionIt should be cautions in assessment of spasticity of muscles in the lower extremities of children with spastic CP by MAS.

RESUMO

@#ObjectiveTo investigate the test-retest reliability and inter-rater reliability of ASIA2000 scale.MethodsTwenty-five hospitalized spinal cord injury volunteers were chosen according to the selective criteria. The items were retested by the same examiner one week later to determine the scale's test-retest reliability. Another doctor did the same work 24 h later to determine the scale's inter-rater reliability.ResultsThe Pearson correlation coefficients of the pin prick score, light touch score and motor score of the test-retest reliability were all above 0.90 (P<0.05), and the Kappa values of the ASIS impairment scale (AIS) and completeness of the injury were 0.787 and 0.756 (P<0.05). The Pearson correlation coefficients of the pin prick score, light touch score and motor score of the inter-rater reliability were all above 0.85 (P<0.05), and the Kappa values of the AIS and completeness of the injury were 0.802 and 0.764 (P<0.05).ConclusionThe ASIA2000 scale has good test-retest reliability and inter-rater reliability.

RESUMO

Objective: To test the reliability and validity of self-made BIRS (body image rating scale). Method: The scale was administrated to 185 subjects including 70 patients with body dysmorphic disorder (BDD) and 115 normal control. The internal consistency, test-retest reliability and validity were assessed in 100 subjects. Results: Correlation coefficients between factors were 0.7 or above. Cohranbach ( 0.965. Validity coefficient was 0.684 with that of each item was over 0.6. The test-retest reliability reached 0.72 and Spearman-Brown semi-structure reliability came to 0.999. Conclusion: Good internal consistency, reliability and validity were obtained. There was no difference between boy and girl in total score as well as factor scores.
