ABSTRACTMealybugs (Hemiptera: Pseudococcidae) are important pests of the grapevine Vitis spp. and are responsible for direct and indirect damage to production. The main mealybug species present in wine grapevine (Vitis vinifera L.) in Southern Brazil were identified and their incidence evaluated. Bunch-samples (n = 50) from 131 vineyards located in the Serra Gaúcha Region (RS) of Brazil were analyzed at harvest, and the occurrence of mealybugs in the roots was evaluated at the time of eradication of plants for replanting. Mealybugs were reared in laboratory until adulthood for species determination. The species Dysmicoccus brevipes (Cockerell, 1983), Dysmicoccus sp., Planococcus citri (Risso, 1813), Pl. minor(Maskell, 1897), Pseudococcus viburni (Signoret, 1875) and Pseudococcus sp. were identified in bunches. Dysmicoccus sp., D. umbambae Granara de Willink, 2009, Pl. citri and Pseudococcus sp. were found in the roots. Pl. citri (31.4%) and Dysmicoccus sp. (22.7%) were the most common species found in wine grape bunches in the Serra Gaúcha Region.

RESUMO

New plant hosts are recorded for nine scale insect species recently collected in Espírito Santo, Brazil, and eleven scale insect species are recorded for the first time from the state: Ceroplastes floridensis Comstock, Coccus longulus (Douglas), Coccus viridis (Green), Eucalymnatus tesselatus (Signoret), Pseudokermes sp., Saissetia coffeae (Walker), Phenacoccus madeirensis Green, Pseudococcus jackbeardsleyi Gimpel & Miller, Pseudococcus longispinus (Targioni Tozzetti), Icerya purchasi Maskell, and Icerya genistae Hempel. This is also the first record of Co. longulus in Brazil. Information on the host plants and geographic distribution of the 26 species of scale insects of the families Coccidae, Pseudococcidae, Ortheziidae, and Monophlebidae, currently known from Espírito Santo is provided.


Novas plantas hospedeiras foram registradas para nove espécies de cochonilhas coletadas recentemente no Estado do Espírito Santo, Brasil, e onze espécies de cochonilhas são registradas pela primeira vez no Estado: Ceroplastes floridensis Comstock, Coccus longulus (Douglas), Coccus viridis (Green), Eucalymnatus tesselatus (Signoret), Pseudokermes sp., Saissetia coffeae (Walker), Phenacoccus madeirensis Green, Pseudococcus jackbeardsleyi Gimpel & Miller, Pseudococcus longispinus (Targioni Tozzetti), Icerya purchasi Maskell, e Icerya genistae Hempel. Co. longulus é registrada pela primeira vez no Brasil. É disponibilizada a informação das plantas hospedeiras e a distribuição geográfica de 26 espécies de cochonilhas das famílias Coccidae, Pseudococcidae, Ortheziidae, e Monophlebidae atualmente conhecidas no Estado do Espírito Santo.

Aonidiella aurantii (Maskell), Aspidiotus nerii Bouché, Borchseniaspis palmae (Cockerell), Cornuaspis beckii (Newman), Chrysomphalus aonidum (Linnaeus), Chrysomphalus dictyospermi (Morgan), Insulaspis gloverii (Packard), Mycetaspis personata (Comstock), Parlatoria cinerea Doane & Hadden, Parlatoria pergandii Comstock, Pinnaspis aspidistrae (Signoret) and Unaspis citri (Comstock), on citrus plants in Tucumán, Argentina, are discussed in this paper. A key for the recognition of the species, as well as the synonymy, characterization and illustration are also included. Data on economic importance and host plants are provided.


En el presente trabajo son registradas Aonidiella aurantii (Maskell), Aspidiotus nerii Bouché, Borchseniaspis palmae (Cockerell), Cornuaspis beckii (Newman), Chrysomphalus aonidum (Linnaeus), Chrysomphalus dictyospermi (Morgan), Insulaspis gloverii (Packard), Mycetaspis personata (Comstock), Parlatoria cinerea Doane & Hadden, Parlatoria pergandii Comstock, Pinnaspis aspidistrae (Signoret) y Unaspis citri (Comstock), sobre cítricos en la provincia de Tucumán, Argentina. Se presenta una clave para el reconocimiento de las especies, así como la sinonimia, caracterización e ilustración de las mismas y datos de plantas huéspedes e importancia económica.
