RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Development of tissue engineering is of great social and economic significance. Understanding the basic research strength of China in the main subfields of tissue engineering can provide reference for the optimization of resources allocation and for the formulation of corresponding development strategies. OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the basic research strength of China in the main subfields of tissue engineering. METHODS: PubMed was searched for basic research and top basic research articles in the subfields of tissue engineering (including bone and cartilage, nerve, blood vessel, liver, skin, heart, and eye tissue engineering) in the world, the United States and China. By comparing with the global average and American, Chinese basic research strength in the main subfields of tissue engineering was evaluated with indicators including the number of papers, the growth rate of papers, and the number and proportion of top papers. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: (1) The number of basic research papers published by Chinese institutions in the subfields of bone and cartilage tissue engineering, nerve tissue engineering, vessel tissue engineering, liver tissue engineering, skin tissue engineering, cardiac tissue engineering and eye tissue engineering was 4 487, 3 551, 2 869,1 328,1 185,1 088 and 689, respectively, accounting for 10%—15% of worldwide papers in corresponding subfields. The amount of papers published by Chinese institutions was nearly half of that published by institutions of the United States for the first five subfields, but only 32.1% and 37.8% of that published by institutions of the United States for the latter two subfields. (2) The annual growth rate of papers published by Chinese institutions was 19.3%, 19.5%, 18.2%, 14.6%, 21.8%, 19.6% and 19.6%, respectively, for the above seven subfields, all of which were obviously higher than that of the global average and the United States. (3) The number of top papers published by Chinese institutions was 36, 31, 33, 24,15, 24 and 12, and the proportion of top papers published by Chinese institutions was 0.8%, 0.9%, 1.2%, 1.8%, 1.3%, 2.2% and 1.7%, respectively, all of which were obviously lower than that of the global average and the United States. (4) China has published relatively more papers on bone and cartilage tissue engineering, nerve tissue engineering and vessel tissue engineering, and relatively less papers on cardiac tissue engineering and eye tissue engineering. The amount of papers published by Chinese institutions has been growing rapidly in each of the seven main subfields of tissue engineering, with the speed of growing being obviously higher than that of the global average and the United States. China has published a certain amount of top papers in each of the seven subfields, while the proportion of top papers for China is obviously lower than that of the global average and the United States.

RESUMO

Objective To analyze the publication of Chinese scientific research papers from medical institutions in Urumqi,Xinjiang from year 2003 to 2015,to understand the status quo of paper publication by medical personnel in this area,to find objective evidence for the scientific research development of medical institutions in Urumqi, also figure out the differences of different institutions,to summarize the developing trend which will help for identify the distribution features,as well as optimizing scientific research paper management at local area. Methods Literature metrology was applied to analyze Chinese paper publication from medical institutions during 2003-2015 in Urumqi,Xinjiang. Results A total number of 56 684 Chinese scientific papers were published in 13 years with the average growth of 12.93% each year.Among which, the number of core journal articles is 4 167 accounted for 60.28%.Consider to the distribution of years,7 073 papers, accounted for 13.4% of the total number, were published in 2014;Xinjiang Medicine published most of the articles with a number of 6 166 (10.88%);the Saybagh District of Urumqi published 18 980 papers (33.48%) which were more than other places.Comparative analysis was also conducted among different level hospitals. The publication conditions of different hospitals have a p value less than 0.01 which shows the significant statistical difference.Considering to the distribution of geographical areas, the result was x2 =1 439.566,F <0.01,it also has statistical significance. Conclusions The total number of Chinese scientific paper publication in Urumqi,Xinjiang medical institutions was kept increasing during the year 2003 to 2015,however,there were a lot of variations among different medical institutions, geographical areas and medical personnel. Thus medical institutions should pay more attention to the talent training and scientific research, improve the scientific research management to enhance the capacity of scientific research.

RESUMO

Objective To analyze the papers published by domestic scientific research workers in order to improve the academic level of their papers. Methods The papers published by over 3000 domestic scientific research workers were investigated with questionnaires. Their motives to publish papers and the relation between the number of pub-lished papers and the assessment of their performance were analyzed. Results The number of papers published by domestic scientific research workers was increased. However, their academic level was to be further improved. Over quantization of the assessment mechanisms for scientific research increased the external motives to publish papers, thus leading to the insufficient internal motives of them to engage in scientific research. Conclusion A loose and comfortable academic environment should be created for the scientific research workers in order to initiate their in-ternal motives to publish papers. Over quantization of the assessment mechanisms for scientific research should be changed in order to reduce the external motives of domestic scientific research workers to publish papers. Innovative and cultural environment should be created in order to improve the soft power of scientific research in our country.

RESUMO

Objective To determine co-author contribution for a biomedical scientific paper describing collaborative research by an analytical process model. Methods The important features of contribution were identified, categorized and organized into a logical hierarchy consisting of the main dimensions and sub-dimensions.A face-to-face survey was conducted to obtain data about their relative importance from co-authors.Analytical hierarchy process methodology was used to determine the relative important weights from main dimensions and sub-dimensions along with the consistency. Results Among the 5 main dimensions, all authors considered problem statement as the most important with a weight of 0.4355,and considered research design and data analysis taking the 2nd and 3rd positions.Among the 10 sub-dimensions,hypothesis construction, method development, result interpretation, and critical revision of manuscript were considered the most important contributions. Conclusion Analytical hierarchy process effectively supportto establish the co-authors' priorties for a biomedical scientific paper.

RESUMO

Ways of effectively managing and using the scientific papers published by the personnel of an orga- nization so as to contribute to the enhancement of its scientific and technological strength and the level of its medical work are issues to be explored by file managing departments of scientific and medical institutions. On the one hand, the institutions should work out by administrative means various rules and regulations so as to standardize the filing of papers. On the other hand, the filing departments should enhance people's consciousness and initiative in placing their papers on file through excellent management and convenient service so as to bring the filing of scientific papers into a sound cycle.
