In El Salvador, the cultivation of Pacific Oyster (Crassostrea gigas) is a new activity, due to, in the country, the reproduction, the handling of the seed and the development of the fattening crop in the cultivation areas were unknown. That is why the Center for the Development of Fisheries and Aquaculture (CENDEPESCA) together with the technical cooperation of the Government of Japan through the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) has implemented the "Project for the Development of Aquaculture of Mollusks in El Salvador "that has introduced a new species of oyster in El Salvador, the Pacific Oyster (Crassostrea gigas) with the aim of improving the quality of life of the fishing communities, which has only been dedicated to the extraction of the resources of the natural environment, but not to the cultivation directly because of the lack of resources for the realization of the reproduction of the organisms, acquisition of the seed and inputs for the development of the crop. ITCA-FEPADE La Unión joined this effort and carried out an investigation in cooperation with CENDEPESCA, which began with the sowing of 7,000 seeds in the suspended system of Japanese Oyster, after which a schedule of work for the control and development of the growth of the crop in the 6 months of duration of the investigation,

RESUMO

Objective Toinvestigatethecontentofintrinsicformaldehydeinsea-food,soastoprovideascientificbasis forestablishingthecriteriaforformaldehyderesidueinsea-foods.Methods Atotalof266samplesofvarioussea-foods were collected from 3 representative coastal regions in Zhejiang Province. The content of intrinsic formaldehyde was examined at pre-determined gradients based on different storage temperature and time.A total of 825 test results were collected. All samples were carefully protected against contamination of exogenous formaldehyde in the process from collectiontoexamination. Results Theconcentrationofformaldehyderangedbetween10.40and223.80,0.08and3.50, 0.08 and 1 4.20,0.08 and 2.89,0.25 and 1 1.02,0.1 2 and 2.61 ,0.08 and 2.37 mg/kg for Bombay duck, yellow croaker, squid, hairtail, inkfish, octopus, and shrimp respectively. The intrinsic formaldehyde content varied between different sea -foods,and also between different individuals of a same species.Meanwhile, storage time significantly influencedintrinsicformaldehydecontentofsea-foods.Conclusion Sea-foodscontainedcertainamountofintrinsic formaldehyde. The national standard which requires zero content of formaldehyde in marine products needs further discussion.

RESUMO

The objective of this study was to determine the prevalence of Hepatitis A Virus (HAV) in sea food samples in the Isfahan and Shahrekord townships in Iran. From September 2010 to April 2011, a total of 300 samples of fresh fish, shrimp, crab and lobster were obtained from randomly selected retail stores in the Isfahan and Shahrekord townships in Iran. The samples were tested for the presence of HAV using a reverse transcriptase- polymerase chain reaction method. Out of the total number of samples examined, 8 (2.7%) were found to be positive for HAV. This virus was detected in 5% and 1.7% of fresh fish and shrimp, respectively. This study shows the importance of sea food as potential sources of HAV infection in people in Iran.

Objective To investigate the effect of seafood intake on the urinary iodine level in women for exploring an alternative to iodine supplementation. Methods Healthy pregnant women and non-pregnant women, aged 20~40 years, were selected during their health examination in local women'S health care in 2006.The types of seafood and its intake frequency were recorded from these women.and urine and kitchen salt samples were collected for iodine determination. Results A total of 198 women including 148 pregnant and 50 non-pregnant women were recmitod for this study;they had a median level of urine iodine of 87.51 mg/L.The median levels of urine iodine of83.49,91.52,166.45μg/L in three group women classified as hardly, seldom and often intake of see food showed significant difference(X2=6.202,P<0.05).Urine iodine level in non-pregnant women taking seafood (90.94μg/L)was higher than that in pregnant women(84.79μg/L),the difference being statistically significant (U=3318.00,P<0.05).The urine iodine in pregnant women with seldom intake of seafood(94.46 μg/L)was significantly higher than that in the hardly intake women(83.28 μg/L),the difference being statistically significant (U=1257.5,P<0.05).During late period of gestation, the urinary iodine in the women ofthree statUS of hardly. Seldom and often intake of seafood were 81.93,97.97 and 140.18 μg/L,respective,with significant differences among them. Conclusions A certain amount of seafood taken every week Can increase urine iodine levels, and a direct relationship Was observed. Therefore,we suggest that it is necessary to advocate taking seafood to pregnant women for prevention of cretinism, particularly in the air.as where iodized salt was difficult to implement.

RESUMO

Objective To develop an ion chromatogram method for determination of fluoride in the sea food and meat. Methods Under the acid condition, fluorine could be separated by distillation, then fluorine is absorbed by washing liquid. The electricity lead detection-ion chromatogram with Ionpac AS14 column was employed to determine the content of fluoride,3.5 mmol/L of sodium carbonate-1.0 mmol/L of soda as the washing liquid at 1.2 ml/ min. Results The linear range was 0.05-1.0 mg/L,the relative coefficient (r) was more than 0.999 7 (n=6),the lowest detection limit was 0.3 mg/kg,the relative standard deviation was 1.00%-3.85%,the recovery rates were 88.1%-99.0%. Conclusion This method presents a good effect of pretreatment and fluorine ion seperation and with a satisfactory recovery rate, precision and detection limit.
