Background: Insufficient contraceptive use among 15–25-year-olds leads to unwanted pregnancies, unsafe abortions, disabilities, infant mortality, and high teen pregnancy rates, with Kenya's high rate of teen pregnancies despite efforts. Methods: Analytical cross-sectional study design was used and 361 teenage girls between 15-19 years in the selected electoral wards at Kuria West Sub County in Migori County, Kenya. Data was collected using administered structured questionnaire, and key informant interview. Quantitative data analysis was conducted using statistical package for the social sciences (SPSS) version 26.0 and involved univariate and bivariate analysis. Bivariate analysis was done through logistic regression was used to test the significance of the association between the dependent and independent variables (p<0.05). Qualitative data was analyzed by thematic content analysis. Results: More than two third 249 (69.0%) of respondents had utilized contraceptives such as condoms (33.3%), injection (25.3%), implants (22.9%), and pills (15.7%). Religious affiliation (?2=5.576, df=1, p=0.018) was significantly associated with utilization of the contraceptives. Additionally, religion supports the use of contraceptives (?2=0.061, df=1, p=0.804), culture prohibits the use of contraceptives (?2=1.496, df=2, p=0.473), discuss contraceptive methods with family (?2=1.423, df=2, p=0.491), and difficult to engage in sexual discussions with my parents/guardian (?2=2.707, df=2, p=0.258) had no statistical relationship with utilization of the contraceptives. Conclusions: Central and county government, stakeholders and NGOs should organize health education targeting parents, community and the society which should include, schedules and benefits/importance of utilization of FP services to counter the cultural beliefs.
Abstract Objective: The present study explored the differences in the attitude towards adolescent pregnancy between men and women, making a retrospection at the moment they find out that they are pregnant adolescents. Method: Descriptive transectional qualitative phenomenological study, with a sample of 305 participants between 20 and 56 years of age taken in 4 cities. For the analysis we used the word frequency technique with Boolean operators using the NVivo 12 software. Results: The results describe differences in the frequency of words used by men and women when asked what they felt, thought and did at that moment, except for the word support, which was present in all types of responses in both genders. The words "joy", "responsibility", "work", and "family" have a lot of significance for men, while for women they were "fear," "wanted," and "power." Aside from the need for support, men recall perceiving pregnancy as an obligation, while women focused on feelings, particularly fear, as well as the need to express themselves about the issue. Conclusions: Although there are similarities around the need for support, it seems that men tend to think of pregnancy as an obligation initially associated with joy and then move on to rejection. On the other hand, women have ambivalent feelings and emotions associated with the difficulties of becoming a mother and continuing their studies. It is suggested that public policies on adolescent pregnancy be designed with a differential gender approach, taking into account these aspects.

Teenage pregnancies are a serious public health issue around the world and Zambia in particular. This is driven by many factors. The general objective of the study was to explore determinants of teenage pregnancy in Chinshinki village, Chipili district. This was a qualitative study, which adopted a phenomenological study design. Data was collected using a focus group discussion with teenage mothers and four key informants. Participants were purposively selected based on the in-depth knowledge and experience of the phenomenon studied. The data collected was analysed using thematic analysis. The study showed that despite being aware of the various methods of contraception, teenagers still have negative attitudes toward their use. Cultural beliefs of not discussing sexual matters at household level have led to teenagers to search for guidance and information from their peers. The study also revealed that the reduced accessibility and awareness on reproductive health information was influenced by the healthcare workers who did not provide this information to the teenagers in their respective communities. The study showed that despite being aware of the various methods of contraception, teenagers are still not willing to fully utilize these methods. This perception stems from misinformation provided by their peers who play an important role regarding teenagers' decisions about engaging in risky sexual behaviour.

Background: Despite measures put in place to combat teenage pregnancy, the rate remains high. Community health workers (CHWs) are a cadre of health workers that can help put measures in place to reduce teenage pregnancy in the communities in which they live and work. Aim: This article aims to gain a deeper understanding of CHWs' perceptions regarding teenage pregnancy in the rural districts of Limpopo province. Methods: An exploratory qualitative study approach was employed to collect data from CHWs in two rural districts of Limpopo. A non-probability purposive sampling approach was used to choose 81 CHWs. Eight focus group discussions (FGDs) were organised, and audio recorded to collect data from participants. The discussions were 23 h long and conducted in English, and data saturation was attained by the fifth FGDs. Results: An eight-step tech's content analysis approach was employed to deductively code, analyse and summarise data into themes. Three themes emerged: the prevalence of teenage pregnancy in rural villages, factors contributing to teenage pregnancy and challenges faced by CHWs when dealing with teenage pregnancy. Conclusion: The study's findings revealed that CHWs face challenges in their communities when offering appropriate teen pregnancy services and CHWs believe that teen pregnancy numbers remain high. There is a significant barrier in combating teenage pregnancy; if contraceptives are not acceptable to the community, the only solution and option for combating teenage pregnancy is abstinence. Contribution: The CHWs presented their insights of teenage pregnancy in rural communities. The outcomes of this study could help clinical practise, schools, communities, youth-friendly services, policymakers and other non-governmental organisations reduce teenage pregnancy.

Poverty, little schooling, primigravidae, low pre-pregnancy BMI, urinary tract infection during pregnancy and few prenatal consultations were associated with childbirth during adolescence in a municipality in the Northern region of Brazil.
RESUMO
Background: Numerous studies have documented an intergenerational cycle of adolescent motherhood, wherein daughters of adolescent mothers are more likely to follow suit. This pattern may result from biological predisposition, heritable attitudes, or the socioeconomic environment influenced by early childbirth. Surprisingly, the same cycle among young fathers remains unexplored in India. This research paper seeks to enrich the existing body of knowledge by shedding light on the intergenerational cycle of adolescent fatherhood in the rural Jharkhand and Odisha, possibly as a first of its kind study. Methods: A case control study was conducted between June 2023 to August 2023 amongst adolescent males residing in rural areas of Jharkhand and Odisha states with sample size of 228 using multi-stage sampling technique. Results: The study did not reveal statistically significant association between adolescent fathers of this generation and adolescent fathers or adolescent mothers of previous generation, unlike in the case of adolescent mothers. Conclusions: To address adolescent reproductive sexual Health challenges in rural Jharkhand and Odisha effectively, it is imperative to emphasize targeted educational campaigns with cultural sensitivity, actively involve adolescent males and maintain a steadfast long-term commitment to fostering cultural transformation.
Abstract Introduction: Teenage paternity has been considered an important social problem that has been recently studied from the sociocultural construction of masculinities and gender inequality. This work contributes to documenting the experience of adolescent fatherhood in two Ch'ol and Tseltal indigenous rural communities in the state of Chiapas, Mexico. Methodology: The study was conducted through a qualitative approach, the data collection technique consisted of semi structured interviews and the selection of participants was through the linear snowball technique. Twenty-five complete interviews were carried out in two stages, 13 in each locality, of which 16 were with children under 20 years of age who were fathers and mothers in adolescence, five with men between 24 and 40 years old, and four with men aged 50 and over. Results: Adolescent fatherhood is associated with the construction of masculinities, supported by traditional sociocultural norms such as payment for the bride, polygyny, and the traffic of women. Teenage pregnancy is associated with the importance of fatherhood for men despite the resistance of women to unite and get pregnant early. Conclusions: There are some conditions that facilitate the occurrence of adolescent fatherhood, but not as an individual, isolated phenomenon, but rather in the context of economic production, family structures and the subordination of women, which have remained despite some generational social changes.
RESUMO
Despite a clear policy recognition of the need for special programmatic attention for adolescents to ensure access to sexual and reproductive health information and services, almost all existing programs in India face critical challenges in effectively delivering sexual and reproductive health information and services, which leads to early marriages and teenage pregnancies. Teenage pregnancies directly threaten women's sexual and reproductive health and well-being. States like Rajasthan with high adolescent pregnancy rates demand better solutions. IPE Global implemented project Udaan to reduce teenage pregnancies in the state, adopting a 360 degree approach. Improving Sexual and Reproductive Health was one of the critical components of the project, and a human-centred design method was adopted to co-create an effective sexual and reproductive health intervention relevant to the community. The human-centred design approach incorporated multiple steps, including formative research, iterations, prototyping and piloting. Five potential interventions emerged after a series of iterative explorations. The in-school SRH intervention has emerged as an excellent model of reaching adolescents effectively in culturally sensitive rural geographies in the evaluation of the pilot, which successfully covered over 10,800 adolescent boys and girls across 66 government high schools in the Bari block of Dholpur. An independent evaluation suggested a significant increase in the awareness of contraceptive methods in the intervention area from 24 per cent to 50 per cent. Contraceptive self-efficacy, a measure of girls' agency, increased by 18 per cent in the intervention area. Further, qualitative findings showed a significant improvement in SRH awareness and service utilization.

Owing to the increasing awareness regarding maternal and foetal wellbeing, majority of the teenage mothers were booked. Teenage mothers and their babies are prone to intrapartum and postpartum complications as well as stillbirths. The most common comorbidity associated in teenage mothers was pregnancy induced hypertension (PIH) spectrum disorders followed by anaemia. The rate of neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) admission for babies of teenage mothers was 10%.Conclusions: Adolescent mothers and their babies are at a risk of complications than other mothers in the twenties. The need of the hour are comprehensive measures and convergence among various departments to address all the needs of adolescents. Robust measures and policies to end teenage marriages and consequent pregnancies are exactly what the developing nations need at present.

Abstract Background: In Mexico, teenage pregnancy is 77 for every 1,000. In terms of annual births, 17% are from teenage mothers, which are almost 350,000. Objective: To explain why teenage girls get pregnant in spite of knowing about contraceptives. Method: An observational and exploratory study by which 300 pregnant teenage girls between 15 and 19 years old were evaluated, with no history of substance abuse and whose pregnancies were not the result of rape. A questionnaire on family dynamics and an interview about their sociodemographic background were applied. Results: The first sexual intercourse for 1.7% of the participants was at 12 years old; for 7.3%, at 13; for 18.7%, at 14; for 36%, at 15; for 19.3%, at 16, and for the remaining 17%, near 19 years old. All of them (100%) stated they knew about contraceptives, including the morning-after pill. Conclusions: Pregnancies at an early age come with individual and social myths about the knowledge of human sexuality, contraception, and love life. For these young women, a pregnancy represents an object of love and obtaining a place in the world and within their families.
