RESUMO

@#BACKGROUND: Bombing is a unique incident which produces unique patterns, multiple and occult injuries. Death often is a result of combined blast, ballistic and thermal effect injuries. Various natures of injury, self referrals and arrival by private transportation may lead to "wrong triage" in the emergency department. In India there has been an increase in incidence of bombing in the last 15 years. There is no documented triage tool from the National Disaster Management Authority of India for Bombings. We have tried to develop an ideal bombing specific triage tool which will guide the right patients to the right place at the right time and save more lives. METHODS: There are three methods of studying the triage tool: 1) real disaster; 2) mock drill; 3) table top exercise. In this study, a table top exercise method was selected. There are two groups, each consisting of an emergency physician, a nurse and a paramedic. RESULTS: By using the proportion test, we found that correct triaging was significantly different (P=0.005) in proportion between the two groups: group B (80%) with triage tool performed better in triaging the bomb blast victims than group A (50%) without the bombing specific triage tool performed. CONCLUSION: Development of bombing specific triage tool can reduce under triaging.

RESUMO

Objective To analyze related behaviors of individual preparedness and influencing factors on violent terrorist attacks among undergraduates. Methods A total of 1 800 undergraduates from 5 colleges or universities in Guangzhou were selected, using the stratified cluster method.A questionnaire involving the response to violent terrorist attack behavior was used to assess the individual preparedness behaviors among undergraduates.A self-made questionnaire was applied to collect information on demographic factors, cognitive and preparedness behaviors. Results The mean score of individual preparedness behavior among undergraduates was 13.49 ± 5.02 while information on seeking behavior was 4.27 ± 1.64,avoidance behavior was 5.97± 2.16 and violent terrorist attack response behaviors was 23.73 ± 7.21,with 30.0 percent of undergraduates behaved properly.Significant differences were found in the scores of behaviors on the response to violent terrorist attack with different gender, major they pursue or religious belief (P<0.05),among undergraduates involved in this study. Results from the logistic regression analysis revealed that persons being girls (OR=1.46,95% CI:1.06-2.01),with bigger perceived probability (OR=1.60,95% CI:1.12-2.30),with higher alertness (OR=3.77,95% CI:2.15-6.61),with stronger coping confidence (OR=0.34,95% CI:0.24-0.48) and bigger affective response (OR1=3.42,95% CI:2.40-4.86; OR2 =0.23,95 % CI:0.1 3-0.41),would present more prominent behavior responses when facing the violent terrorist attack. Conclusion Individual response behaviors to violent terrorist attacks among undergraduates were relatively ideal.Perceived probability, alertness, coping confidence and affective response appeared to be independent influencing factors related to response behaviors against violent terrorist attack. In colleges and universities, awareness on violent terrorist attacks should be strengthened among undergraduates.Focus should target on psychological education dealing with disaster, knowledge and skills needed for emergency response,so as to respond to the emergency on campus.

RESUMO

Chemical weapons(CW), as weapons of mass destruction on the battlefield , made their debut in the First World War of the last century .To achieve total prohibition on CW , the international community concluded the Chemical Weapons Convention(CWC)in 1993, and it came into force in 1997.So far, only seven countries have been outside the CWC.The offensive and defensive pattern of the world changed then , and the world began to enter the post-CW era.A chemical terrorist attack perspective is needed in consideration of chemical threats facing the world .This article summarizes the experience on specific chemical attacks , analyzes the possibility , sources, types and developments of a chemical terror-ist attack, and puts forward countermeasures for any possible chemical terrorist attack .

RESUMO

Owing to the globalization and the fast development of new technologies, new chemical threats are arising, and the strategies for the defense against them are in urgent need to be adapted to the changes. Taking historical events of chemical terrorist attacks as examples, and based on the three major constituents (agent, target and dissemination), we evaluate the key notes in chemical terrorism scenarios and briefly discuss the deficiency of the current countermeasures against contemporary chemical terrorism.

RESUMO

Terrorism has become a global phenomenon and most of the countries, whether developed or developing, are facing terror activities. Recently the terror activities have become a regular feature in India where more than 15 major terrorist strikes occurred from 2008 to 2010. Assam, the gateway of northeast India, on 30th October 2008 witnessed a strategically planned terrorist multiple consequential serial bomb blast attack where more than 13 bombs were exploded within a span of merely 10-20 minutes. The news on the next day indicated the initial death of 66 persons; and 470 sustained minor to severe injuries during the explosions in different places. Out of these ultimately 90 persons had died, which was the highest mortality in any blast in the Assam till that date. The dead bodies of 56 victims were brought to Gauhati Medical College and Hospital mortuary for postmortem examination. During autopsy apart from the demographic data collected on interaction with police, relatives of the victims and inquest papers of every victim, the postmortem findings were recorded in details and the difficulties faced in the management of this disaster in mortuary will be discussed in this paper.

RESUMO

Ten years of anti-terror struggle since the 9/11 event has indicated adequately that terrorism is a global problem and international danger. Likewise, anti-terror emergency rescue is also an important task which will influence the safety and benefit of every country all over the world. This paper reviews the main progress and result of international anti-terror struggle in the last ten years, and also introduces the new characteristic of the international anti-terror activity. Besides that, this paper also brings forward the further consideration about the anti-terror emergency medical rescue and the researches remaining to be carried out. The latter includes: (1) to further perfect the high-efficient medical rescue command organization; (2) to further perfect the emergency medical rescue prearranged scheme; (3) to further perfect the construction of rescue system and rescue base after various types of terror attack; (4) to further promote the anti-terror consciousness in the public, and pay more attention to the prevention and investigation of the psychological disaster; (5) to further carry out the basic investigation on emergency medical rescue after various terror attack injuries (for example the types and characteristics of new injuries, pathophysiology and prevention and treatment of stress-psychological effect induced by terror attack, new high-efficient medical rescue measure and equipments, and so on).
