RESUMO

Context: Overdentures are the choice of treatment for most of them, but the only snag is its cost. In India, the rural areas are still deprived of quality treatment. This manuscript is showcasing a study, which is a cheaper, but effective way to provide the best to the patient. Aims: The aim of this study was to develop a custom made system, which can be used as an alternative treatment for the management of patients who need overdentures. The primary objective of this study was to provide a cost-effective attachment with the best functional efficacy. Materials and Methods: The semi-precision attachments were made by using the conventional technique of preparation of post space. The patterns were prepared by using the pattern resin material and the rest of the male and female attachments were fabricated by using innovative methods fulfilling the criteria. Results: The attachments were successfully used in patients with remarkably good function and comfort. Conclusion: It was a successful attempt to provide the specialized treatment in affordable cost. There is a need of innovative work to make the sophisticated systems more economical and readily available.

RESUMO

Amelogenesis imperfecta (AI) is a hereditary disorder expressing a group of conditions that cause developmental alterations in the structure of enamel. This clinical case report describes the oral rehabilitation of a young adult female patient diagnosed with hypoplastic amelogenesis imperfecta with mutilated dentition. The main objective for the selected treatment was to enhance the esthetics, restoring masticatory function and eliminate the teeth sensitivity. Toothsupported overdenture is used as treatment due to patient’s financial constraints. Patient was satisfied with the esthetic and functional expectations.

RESUMO

The scars and contracture around the oral-facial region may cause difficulty in prosthodontic treatment to restore esthetics and function for the patients, who suffered severe burns. This article presents a technique that uses a fixed partial denture prepared with a conventional milling technique and an attachment to support anterior cantilever removable partial denture, thereby providing a more esthetically acceptable and functional result.

As a reflection this article intends to make a call for the research and for the restraint, while opening a space for teamwork in which planning is prevalent and where the level of evidence-based studies with adequate methodological designs make credible and translate the information on this subject that is current and certainly controversial. It deals specifically what the evidence shows about tooth-implant unions that are still considered a controversial topic, also, describes the limitation of studies with good methodological designs that will lead to important conclusions in this biomedical area. Similarly, considerable unawareness in most protocols for immediate and progressive implants loading in different edentulism situations is not pondered by some dental schools programs and commercial corporations that consider them very popular and based on research far from adequate with a good level of evidence
