RESUMO

Objective:To explore any effect of pelvic floor muscle training and/or attention training on pelvic floor function and women′s symptoms of stress urinary incontinence (SUI).Methods:Fifty incontinent women were divided into a control group ( n=25) and an experimental group ( n=25). Both groups received conventional pelvic muscle rehabilitation training, but the experimental group was additionally provided with attention training for 6 weeks. Before and after the 6 weeks of treatment, both groups were evaluated using surface electromyography of the pelvic floor. The short form of the International Urinary Incontinence Advisory Committee′s urinary incontinence questionnaire (ICIQ -SF) was used to assess the severity of incontinence and quality of life (I-QOL). Results:Before the treatment there was no significant difference between the 2 group′s pelvic floor myographs, nor in their average ICIQ-SF and I-QOL scores. After the treatment, however, compared with the control group, significant improvement was observed in experimental group′s peak amplitude during rapid contraction, average EMG in tonic contraction and endurance contraction. Their average ICIQ-SF and I-QOL scores were also better. Conclusion:Supplementing pelvic floor muscle training with attention training can effectively improve the urinary continence and the life quality of women with stress urinary incontinence.

RESUMO

ABSTRACT Studies emphasize the training of cognitive functions to decrease losses in the population. Memory training associated with neurotracker was performed by an 80-year-old man with memory complaints. A battery for measuring memory, quality of life and stress was initially applied and showed low scores. The patient underwent a program for stimulating memory and attention comprising 32 sessions (2 weekly sessions of 90 minutes each). The post-test follow-up showed improvements in the process of storage and retrieval of episodic and working memory, greater use of strategies, faster information processing speed, as well as reduction in complaints and positive impact on quality of life. The results suggest that the use of Neurotracker for training cognitive processes is valid for cognitive rehabilitation programs to promote improvements in quality of life in the elderly.

Objective To explore the attention bias characteristics and impacts of attention training on negative attention bias of undergraduates with sub-clinical depression. Methods The undergraduates whose BDI scores being at the top of 5% were recruited as participations and assigned to early attention training group and late attention training group using random number table. The dot probe paradigm was used to compare the difference of depressive symptoms and ingredients of attention bias made by different processing phases of attention training. Results (1)The BDI score after the training(87.91± 12.47) was significantly lower than that the former test (97.23±17.72) (F~,32)=4.78,P<0.05),and the attention bias score in late attention training group (-5.97±2.92) was lower than that in the early attention training group(2.77±2.75) (P<0.05).The interaction of the stimulus materials presenting time and the measuring time was significant(F(2,64) =4.76,P<0.05).Simple effect analysis showed that when the time of stimulus material presenting was 1 000 ms,the score of negative attention bias after the test (-4.89 ± 23.66) was significantly lower than pre-test (7.73±26.14) (F(1,33) =5.11,P< 0.05).In the pre-test,the negative attention bias scores of the stimulus materials presenting time for 100 ms and 1 000 ms (8.62 ± 27.60,7.73 ± 26.14) were significantly higher than that for 500 ms (-12.80±29.09)(P<0.05).(2)When the negative disengaged score as a dependent variable, the repetitive measure analysis of variance showed that the interaction effect of the stimulus materials' presenting time and training group type was significant (F(1,32) =4.41,P<0.05).Simple effect analysis results indicated the negative disengaged score of the late attention training group at post-test (-5.84±7.79) was significantly lower than that at pre-test (24.16±7.35) (P<0.05).Conclusion The attention training during the late stage of the attention process can efficiently intervene the negative attention bias of undergraduates with sub-clinical depression.

RESUMO

@#Objective To explore the influence of attention training on Chinese character processing capability in poststroke nonfluent aphasiacs. Methods 60 stroke patients with nonfluent aphasia and cognition dysfunction were divided into control group (n=30) and experimental group (n=30). The trainings (attention training and cognition training) were respectively 30 minutes each time, 5 times each week for 4 weeks. The change of reaction time and error rate were compared before and after they were performing the orthographic, semantic and phonological tasks. Results In the dual-task paradigm the change of reaction time and error rate in orthographic and semantic tasks of the experimental group were all higher than the control group (P<0.001). But there was no difference between the two groups in the phonological task (P>0.05). In the single task paradigm there was no difference between the two groups (P>0.05). Conclusion 1. Attention training can improve the processing capacity significantly in orthographic and semantic tasks in the dual-task paradigm because the volume and distributive ability of attention improve significantly. 2. Attention training can't improve the processing capacity in phonological tasks in the dual- task paradigm because reading aloud and judging are required to process the vowel simultaneously. So that the competion intensifies and it is more difficult to finish the task. 3. In the single task paradigm, there is no significant difference between the influence of the two trainings in poststroke nonfluent aphasiac because the single task needs little attention and the change in the control group is enough.

RESUMO

Objective To investigate the effect of attention training on cortical activation area and lateralization index in interference ef-fect of dual-task paradigm as the poststroke nonfluent aphasiacs processing the Chinese character tasks. Methods 20 cases with nonfluent aphasia after stroke were divided into the training group and the control group, who accepted attention training and cognitive training respec-tively, 30 min a time, 5 times a week, for 4 weeks. They were investigated the cortical activation area and lateralization index caused by in-terference effect of dual-task paradigm under block design. Results The right inferior frontal gyrus, bilateral parietal and cerebellar cortex were activated before training in both groups, and more activated after attention training, but no change after cognitive training. Lateraliza-tion index suggested that the right brain was more activated before training, while the left side was activated after attention training, but no change after cognitive training. Conclusion The right inferior frontal gyrus, bilateral parietal and cerebellar cortex are very important in solv-ing the dual task interference in the attention stage, and they are activated after attention training. It indicates that attention training makes a significant functional reorganization on Chinese character processing in poststroke nonfluent aphasiacs.
