RESUMO

Objective: To evaluate the relationship between the brain glucose metabolism and left ventricular function parameters, and to explore the cerebral glucose metabolism reduction regions in patients with ischemic heart disease (IHD). Methods: A total of 110 consecutive IHD patients who underwent gated (99)Tc(m)-sestamibi (MIBI) SPECT/CT myocardial perfusion imaging, gated (18)F-fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG) PET/CT myocardial and brain glucose metabolic imaging within three days in Beijing Anzhen Hospital from April 2016 to October 2017, were enrolled in this study. Left ventricular functional parameters of SPECT/CT and PET/CT including end-diastolic volume (EDV), end-systolic volume (ESV) and left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) were analyzed by QGS software. Viable myocardium and myocardial infarction region were determined by 17-segment and 5 score system, and the ratio of viable myocardium and scar myocardium was calculated. According to the range of viable myocardium, the patients were divided into viable myocardium<10% group (n=44), viable myocardium 10%-<20% group (n=36) and viable myocardium≥20% group (n=30). Pearson correlation analysis was used to analyze the correlation between the range of viable myocardium and scar myocardium and the level of cerebral glucose metabolism. Brain glucose metabolism determined by the mean of standardized uptake value (SUV(mean)) was analyzed by SPM. The ratio of SUV(mean) in whole brain and SUV(mean) in cerebellum were calculated, namely taget/background ratio (TBR). Differences in cerebral glucose metabolism among various groups were analyzed by SPM. Results: There were 101 males, and age was (57±10) years in this cohort. The extent of viable myocardium and the extent of scar, LVEF evaluated by SPECT/CT and PET/CT were significantly correlated with TBR (r=0.280, r=-0.329, r=0.188, r=0.215 respectively, all P<0.05). TBR value was significantly lower in viable myocardium<10% group, compared with viable myocardium 10%-<20% group (1.25±0.97 vs. 1.32±0.17, P<0.05) and viable myocardium≥20% group (1.25±0.97 vs. 1.34±0.16, P<0.05). Furthermore, in comparison with viable myocardium≥20% group, the hypo-metabolic regions of viable myocardium<10% group were located in the precuneus, frontal lobe, postcentral gyrus, parietal lobe, temporal lobe, and so on. Conclusions: There is a correlation between impaired left ventricular function and brain glucose metabolism in IHD patients. In IHD patients with low myocardial viability, the level of glucose metabolism in the whole brain is decreased, especially in the brain functional areas related to cognitive function.

RESUMO

@#Objective To observe the brain glucose metabolism after limb ischemic preconditioning (LIPC) for ischemic moyamoya disease with positron emission tomography (PET) and statistical parametric mapping (SPM). Methods 62 patients with ischemic moyamoya disease were enrolled and randomized into LIPC group (n=31) and control group (n=31). The glucose metabolism of patients was analyzed with PET before and after treatment in both groups, using the methods of radioactivity ratio and SPM. Results The glucose metabolism ratio improved more in the LIPC group than in the control group (P<0.01), and aggravated less than in the control group (P<0.001). As setting the glucose metabolism increased after treatment, there were 7 areas activated in LIPC group, including frontal, temporal and parietal lobes, and the KE=1121; while there were 5 areas activated in the control group, including frontal and parietal lobes, and the KE=292. As setting the glucose metabolism decreased after treatment, there was only frontal area activated in LIPC group, while there were 8 areas activated in the control group, including frontal, parietal, occipital lobes, and the KE=629. Conclusion LIPC may improve the brain glucose metabolism in patients with moyamoya disease, which can be observed with PET and SPM.

RESUMO

Objective To explore the influence of age-related changes in the cerebral blood vessels (cerebral blood flow,blood-brain barrier integrity, and level of glucose transporter [GLUT]) in cognitive ability of SAMP8 mouse models of AD. Methods Ten SAMP8 mice and 10 homologous anti-senescence accelerated mice R1 (SAMR1) were chosen in our study; spatial learning and memory abilities of these mice were assessed using Morris water maze; cerebral blood flow was determined by laser Doppler flowmeter; blood-brain barrier (BBB) permeability was examined by fluorescence spectrophotometer; and expressions of GLUT1 and GLUT3 were determined using Western blotting. Results The cognitive abilities of SAMP8 mice damaged apparently even at 4 months of age as compared with those of SAMR1 mice, showing rigid thinking pattern and slow learning process in their Morris water maze test. With increasing of age, much obvious decrement in cerebral blood flow and severe BBB leakage was observed in SAMP8 mice; moreover, alterations in GLUT1 and GLUT3 expressions in the cortex and hippocampus of SAMP8 mice were observed. The cerebral blood flow,BBB integrity, and expressions of GLUT1 and GLUT3 were significantly affected by age and strain, and closely associated with cognitive abilities. Conclusion The alterations in cerebral blood flow and energy failure induced by aging and vascular insults are the reasons for neuron dysfunction and cognitive impairment in mice models of AD.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVES: Internet addiction or pathologic internet use is one of the major mental health problems in children and adolescents in Korea. Internet addiction is defined as uncontrollable, markedly time-consuming internet use, which lasts for a period of at least six months. Internet addiction results in poor academic performance and negative parent-child relationships. By using 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose-positron emission tomography (FDG-PET), we investigated the effects of internet addiction on functional changes occurring in the adolescent brain. METHODS: Adolescent patients with an internet addiction (4 boys and 2 girls; 15.6+/-1.2 years) participated in this study. Eight healthy young adults (5 males and 3 females; 18-30 years old) with no previous history of psychiatric illness also participated as normal controls. Brain FDG-PET data was obtained with the participants in the resting condition and with no addictive stimuli. RESULTS: Statistic parametric mapping analysis of the brain FDG-PET data revealed hypometabolic changes in the visual information processing circuits and hypermetabolic changes in the prefrontal areas in the adolescents with internet addiction, as compared with normal controls (p<.001). CONCLUSION: These results suggest a neuronal adaptation to excessive visual stimulation and synaptic plasticity due to internet addiction.

RESUMO

AIM:To investigate the correlation between cerebral glucose metabolism and paediatric epilepsy or seizure type and seizure frequency.METHODS:To observe the cerebral glucose metabolism in epileptogenic focus,18F-FDG positron emission computed tomography(PET) brain imaging tests were carried out in 86 cases of paediatric epilepsy diagnosed by EEG and MRI.RESULTS:Compared to control group, significantly statistical differences between children epilepsy group and control group in PET brain imaging were observed(P0.05) was observed.CONCLUSION:Cerebral glucose metabolism of paediatric epilepsy is abnormal. The abnormal PET with varieties of epilepsy is found in different brain district. There is positive correlation between the abnormal intensity of PET imaging and the severity or seizure frequency of epilepsy.
