Traditional Chinese Medicine Diagnosis and Treatment of Neuropathic Pain from Theory of Chronic Pain Entering Collaterals / 中国实验方剂学杂志

Neuropathic pain is a clinical symptom with complex mechanisms and high incidence. The commonly used analgesics have limited efficacy and can cause serious side effects. The theory of chronic pain entering collaterals was proposed by YE Tianshi， a famous physician focusing on warm diseases in the Qing dynasty， on the basis of the ancient therapies for pain. This theory is particularly suitable for the diagnosis and treatment of neuropathic pain in view of the clinical course and manifestations. The chronic neuropathic pain can enter the Yin collateral in deeper sites. The pathogenesis of neuropathic pain is summarized as a deficiency in origin and excess in superficiality. The root cause is the dysfunction of Zang-Fu organs， mainly the liver, kidney and heart， while the superficial causes are phlegm and stasis caused by the obstructed Qi and blood movement due to the consumption of Qi and blood in collaterals. Accordingly， the therapies such as dispelling blood stasis， resolving phlegm， and dredging collaterals should be adopted. This paper expounds the traditional Chinese medicine （TCM） pathogenesis and treatment of neuropathic pain， enriching the knowledge and providing new ideas for the TCM prevention and treatment of this disease as a collateral disease.

Theoretical Exploration of Luobing Theory Guides Study on Alzheimer's Disease Based on Neurovascular Protection / 中国实验方剂学杂志

Based on the correlation between Qi and blood in traditional Chinese medicine， the collateral disease theory puts forward that the Qi-collateral go hand in hand with the vessel-collateral of the brain， and to be as close as lips to teeth in structure and function， which is an important basis for the function of brain governing mind. And this theory proposes that deficiency/stagnancy of collateral-Qi， stagnation of collaterals and loss of consciousness are the main pathogenesis of Alzheimer's disease（AD）， which is different from the research strategy of modern medicine focusing on neurons. It is suggested that it is necessary to treat AD from two aspects， including neuronal protection（elimination of pathological products such as β-amyloid and phosphorylated tau protein） and cerebral microvascular protection（protection of cerebral microvascular structure and function， promotion of therapeutic angiogenesis and increase of cerebral blood flow. Tongxinluo capsules is a representative drug for dredging collaterals developed under the guidance of the therapeutic principle of collaterals need circulation， it can protect microvessels and play a neuroprotective role mediated by vascular protection. Clinical studies have confirmed that Tongxinluo capsules can effectively treat AD， vascular dementia and cognitive impairment related diseases， which can provide new ideas and effective treatment ways to prevent and treat AD from neurovascular protection in a comprehensive manner.

The pathogenesis and treatment of refractory Meige syndrome based on the theory of collateral disease / 国际中医中药杂志

Meige syndrome is one of the rare Diseases of neurology. It is a part of the group of segmental cranial dystonia, which affects more than two cranial muscle groups. Especially, blepharospasm is associated with another cranial dystonia. Currently, the etiology and pathogenesis of this disorder are not well-understood. Based on the theory of collaterals and the relationship between collateral disease and five zang organs,we try to classify the disease into the category of collateral disease, and hold that the mechasnism of disease is not only linked to brain, but also the five zang organs. The disorder of qi and blood leads to the "deficiency of qi and blood", "phlegm-damp" and "stagnant blood" in collateral. These pathological changes cause the deficiency of both qi and blood in brain marrow and tendon.We think that "unblocking and regulating the collterals"is the general program. Adjusting the five zang organs to heel the brain is the key point of the treatment. What's more, we create Tongmai Heluo Decoction to regulate qi and blood of the collateral. This decoction is composed of Huangqi Jianzhong Decoction with some herbal medicine for tonifying qi and activating blood. By adjusting the middle energizer, the qi and the qi movement of five zang organs are well regulated. We use this decoction effectively on refractory Meige syndrome.

Scientific Connotation and Clinical Value of Traditional Chinese Medicine Lianhua Qingke Improving Ventilation Function Through "Reducing Phlegm" / 中国实验方剂学杂志

Airway mucus is an important part of the defense barrier function of the airway. Abnormal secretion of airway mucus is closely related to recurrent attacks， delay or aggravation of respiratory infectious or infectious diseases such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease （COPD）， community-acquired pneumonia， and coronavirus disease 2019 （COVID-19）. Lianhua Qingke tablets， an innovative traditional Chinese medicine （TCM） developed under the guidance of the theory of collateral disease of TCM， has the function of reducing phlegm and relieving cough， which can reduce the generation and viscosity of sputum and promote sputum excretion. Clinical studies have shown that it can significantly improve the symptoms of expectoration and cough in patients with acute bronchitis or COVID-19， confirming its scientific connotation and clinical value of reducing phlegm and relieving cough to improve ventilation and exchanging function.

Treatment of rheumatoid arthritis based on the collateral disease theory / 中国组织工程研究

BACKGROUND: Although ancient physicians had rich discussions on rheumatoid arthritis, few have discussed based on the theory of collaterals diseases. OBJECTIVE: To summarize the drug treatment classification, etiology analysis, and “collateral-interest accumulation.” METHODS: CNKI, El, SCI, and ISTP databases were searched for articles published after 1900. The keywords were “The bone erosion of rheumatoid arthritis, TCM collaterals theory.” Data from more than 10 domestic and foreign articles were selected to analyze the drug treatment classification, etiology analysis, and “collateral-interest accumulation.” RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: (1) One of the causes of rheumatoid arthritis bone disease is the collaterals disease of traditional Chinese medicine. The development of intractable diseases should follow the law of the development of diseases from the meridians to the collaterals, from the gas to the blood, and from the functional lesions to the organic diseases. (2) The pathogenesis of rheumatoid arthritis lies in the accumulation of collaterals, which causes joint swelling, joint deformity and damage. (3) The treatment of “collaterals for the use of circulation” for rheumatoid arthritis is to keep the collaterals, organs and blood-gas in fluent, thus ensuring the fluent circulation to alleviate the symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis.

Parkinson's disease is an incurable disease, the various therapeutic methods can not completely prevent the development of the disease, and the early treatment can achieve the effect of delaying the progress of this disease. The etiology and pathogenesis of the disease are explained by the theory of collateral disease, and the drug therapy of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) guided by the theory may obtain satisfactory clinical therapeutic effect. The theory is a continuously deepening process to diagnose a disease from syndrome differentiation-disease differentiation-syndrome differentiation, being consistent with the fundamental thought of TCM.

Correlation between Internal Stirring of Collateral Wind and Angiogenesis in Atherosclerosis Plaque / 中医杂志

Based on the theoretical connotation of internal stirring of collateral wind in atherosclerosis (AS) and combined with the concepts related to collateral disease and diseased collaterals,this article suggests that angiogenesis in AS plague belong to collateral disease,of which many are deficiency,stasis and full of changes.Since its pathological changes resemble a lot to wind syndrome,this article suggests that the internal stirring of collateral wind is the core pathogenesis of angiogenesis in AS plague.According to the model building of internal stirring of collateral wind,the high correlation between angiogenesis in AS plague and the internal stirring of collateral wind is proved,which provides a new thought in prevent and treat AS with integrative medicine.

[Objective] To sum up Pro.SONG Kang's clinical experience in treating idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis.[Methods] By following the teacher,summarize the theory and method of the teacher's treatment of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis.[Result] Pro.SONG Kang according to studying collateral disease theory,thinks that "pulmonary collateral blockage" and "deficiency of collateral"are the basic pathogenesis of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis,will belong to the" Feibi "," Feiwei ",often with purgation-tonifying to treat the idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis,specific treatment of dissipating phlegm and removing blood stasis,invigorating lung and spleen,nourishing yin and tonifying kidney,aims at the main symptoms,composing prescriptions reasonably,and combining with western medicine treatment according to the illness,and achieves great therapeutic effect in clinic.[Conclusion] Pro.SONG Kang's treatment of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis has significant curative effect,the clinical experience and prescription drug is worthy of further research and study.

Through researching YE Tian-shi’s theory source,the point of therapeutic methods of Qi collateral asthenia syndrome and collaterals diseases,attaching importance to physique factor and treating in accordance with seasonal conditional,this thesis expatiated intensively YE Tian-shi’s theory of therapeutical principle and medication trait for Qi collateral diseases.Then enumerated the prescriptions in common usage for Qi collateral diseases which were well-chosen from YE Tian-shi’s medical record.In a way,this thesis embodied the academic thought of paying particular attention to Qi collateral therapeutic methods in YE Tianshi’s theory very well.
