RESUMO

A 22-year-old male became unconscious and was found to have left-sided weakness and facial asymmetry. Previously, he had up to 35 excisions for subcutaneous swellings all over the body, commencing at age 6 years. Examination revealed small nodular skin lesions on the neck, the eyelid and hard palate. Two-dimensional echocardiography showed two left atrial masses. Histopathological examination of the subcutaneous lesions showed cutaneous myxomas with a prominent epithelial component. The left atrial masses were also myxomas. The case attempts to highlight the importance of histopathological examination of subcutaneous swellings. Cutaneous and subcutaneous manifestations, including cutaneous myxomas, are among the earliest presentations in Carney’s complex and may herald potentially fatal cardiac myxoma. The prominent epithelial component in cutaneous myxomas may be confusing and cause diagnostic difficulties.

RESUMO

Solitary superficial angiomyxoma gap (SSA), sometimes referred to as solitary cutaneous myxoma, is a relatively uncommon benign myxoid tumor of soft tissue. It is characterized clinically by slowly-growing, asymptomatic nodules on the head, neck, and trunk of adults. It is locally recurrent, but there have been no reports of metastatic spread. Histologically, SSA consists of the conglomerate of moderate-to-sparse cellular angiomyxoid nodules with scattered, small to medium-sized blood vessels in the dermis, frequently involving subcutaneous fat. We herein report a case of SSA which developed in the genital area of an 80-year-old woman.

RESUMO

A solitary cutaneous myxoma, referred to as superficial angiomyxomas, is relatively uncommon benign myxoid soft tissue tumors. The lesion usually present on the head, neck, and trunk of adults as a slowly growing asymptomatic nodule. Herein, we describe a case of a pedunculated solitary cutaneous myxoma arising on the vertex of a 48-year-old man, but with no evidence of Carney syndrome. Histologically, the tumor was composed of vascular, mucinous matrix with a network of fine collagen and reticulin fibers, containing stellate and spindle-shaped fibroblasts. There was no evidence of malignancy
