RESUMO

The present study is to establish a quantitative analysis of multi-components by single marker(QAMS) for determining contents of seven compositions in Alismatis Rhizoma, alismoxide, alisol C 23-acetate, alisol A, alismol, alisol B, alisol B 23-acetate and 11-deoxy-alisol B. Six relative correction factors(RCFs) of alismoxide, alisol C 23-acetate, alisol A, alismol, alisol B and 11-deoxy-alisol B were established in the UPLC method with alisol B 23-acetate as the internal standard, which was to calculate the mass fraction of each. The mass fraction of seven effective constituents in Alismatis Rhizoma was calculated by the external standard method(ESM) at the same time. Compared with the content results determined by the ESM and QAMS, the feasibility and accuracy of QAMS method were verified. Within the linear range, the RCFs of alismoxide, alisol C 23-acetate, alisol A, alismol, alisol B, 11-deoxy-alisol B were 0.946, 4.183, 0.915, 1.039, 0.923 and 1.244, respectively, with good repeatability in different experimental conditions. There was no significant difference between the QAMS method and ESM method. Then, QAMS method was applied to determination of the different degree Alismatis Rhizoma from different areas. As a result, the concentrations of 7 components have differences in different areas, but no significant differences in different grades. The QAMS method is feasible and accurate for the determination of the seven chemical compositions, and which can be used for quality control of Alismatis Rhizoma.

RESUMO

Objective To comparatively analyze the difference and characteristics of high mobility group box-1 protein(HMGB1) level with the levels in the patients with different severities of acute biliary tract infection (ABTI) to provide reference for its clinical diagnosis and treatment .Methods One hundred cases of ABTI in our hospital were divided into the mild group (48 cases) ,moder-ate group (29 cases) and severe group (23 cases) according to the severity of the disease .The HMGB1 detection results were com-pared among 3 groups and the differences in different disease types ,sex and age were analyzed .Results (1)The HMGB1 level had statistically significant difference among 3 groups (P0 .05) ,but in the severe group ,the HMGB1 level in males was significantly higher than that in females (P 0 .05) ,while in the moderate group and severe group ,the HMGB1 level in the patients aged > 60 years old was significantly higher than that in the patients aged ≤60 years old(P<0 .05);(4) in the above 3 groups ,the HMGB1 level in the patients with acute cholecystitis was signifi-cantly higher than that in the patients with acute cholangitis (P<0 .05) .Conclusion The study results analysis indicates that the severe the ABTI disease condition ,the serum HMGB1 level is also accordingly and relatively increased ,in the patients with different severity degrees of ABTI ,the serum HMGB1 level has significant differences in age ,sex and disease type ,which prompts that the HMGB1 level can be used as the laboratory index for predicting and reflecting the ABTI severity and can be paid attention to .

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Plethora of information exists in the literature on pathology of the glioma while prevailing research data on quality‑of‑life (QOL) of glioma patients marks dearth thus demanding more studies. AIMS: In this study, we examined the QOL of different grades of glioma patients among the Chennai population in India. MATERIALS AND METHODS: A total of 162 patients with different grades of glioma enrolled from August 2007 to February 2011, at their first contact to Department of Neurology and Neurosurgery, Government General Hospital, Chennai, India were included and their QOL was assessed by European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer Core QOL questionnaire (EORTC QLQc‑30), EORTC brain cancer module (QLQ BN‑20). RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: Both low and high grade glioma (LGG and HGG) patients had poor mean scores in social functioning (87.0), physical functioning (82.0) and emotional functioning (75.2) and role functioning (58.9). The mean scores on cognitive functioning (61.9) and global QOL (60.3) were better. Age, Karnofsky performance status, World Health Organization grades showed significant associations with all functional scales. The percentage values were higher for symptoms of fatigue (76.9%), pain (71.5%), financial difficulties (77.6%) and appetite loss (38.46%) in both LGG and HGG. Similarly, with respect to QLQ‑BN20 domains, HGG patients showed more symptoms than low grade with a significant correlation in communication deficit problems (P = 0.02), headache (P = 0.04), seizures (P < 0.01), hair loss (P < 0.05) than the other symptoms. This initial assessment suggests that an increasing burden of symptoms exists, with poor QOL and survival, which has become a major concern in different grades of glioma patients.

RESUMO

Objective To investigate and analyze the usage of expensive outpatient prescriptions in different hospitals in Longgang area,Shenzhen, and to discuss and provide reference for the rational usage of expensive pre-scriptions.Methods Two primary hospitals, two secondary hospitals and one tertiary hospital in the Longgang area, Shenzhen, were chosen as the research targets. The expensive outpatient prescriptions, defined as the amount of pre-scription was over 150,200 and 300 yuan for primary, secondary and tertiary hospital respectively, were randomly selected and evaluated using international standards for the rational use of drugs. Results The average prescription items for primary, secondary and tertiary hospitals were 2.96,2.61 and 2.61.The largest proportions of prescription costs were 150 to 200 yuan,200 to 250 yuan and 300 to 350 yuan, which were respectively accounted for 49.6%, 56.6% and 37.7%.The frequency of using proprietary Chinese medicine, was 60.08%,68.18% and 41.62%respectively,which was not reasonable. The clinical diagnosis for the prescriptions of primary and secondary hospitals was mainly composed of trauma, bronchitis and vaginitis. The usage of drugs was not reasonable about the use of anti-biotics and infusion. In addition, the clinical diagnosis for the prescription of tertiary hospital was mainly diabetes, hypertension and cerebral infarction, where the abuse of using large dose of adjuvant drug was observed. Conclusion The frequency of using proprietary Chinese medicine is higher at all levels of hospital. In order to reduce the propor-tion of expensive prescription, the medicine institution should establish a sound system for drug use management and strengthen supervision and verification for western medicine physicians using proprietary Chinese medicine in their prescription.Furthermore,we should intervene and restrict the abuse usage of the adjuvant medicine.
