RESUMO
As mudanças ao longo do desenvolvimento tem sido estudadas sob o enfoque de diversas teorias. Atualmente, a teoria dos sistemas dinâmicos tem sido muito discutida por conseguir responder várias questões a respeito do desenvolvimento motor. Os objetivos deste artigo são definir e discutir os termos utilizados na teoria dos sistemas dinâmicos; aplicar a teoria ao estudo do desenvolvimento motor infantil; e discutir a aplicação dessa teoria na prática clínica de fisioterapeutas pediátricos. Conceitos como multicausalidade, escalas de tempo, auto-organização, parâmetros de ordem, parâmetros de controle, estados atratores e transição de fase são apresentados e discutidos. Vários fatores como as propriedades intrínsecas do individuo, o contexto e a tarefa interferem com igual importância para a emergência de habilidades e devem ser levados em consideração durante o tratamento. Além disso, devem ser identificados os parâmetros de ordem que caracterizam um padrão e os parâmetros de controle que alteram esse padrão, já que, durante a intervenção, promover alterações no padrão e frequentemente a meta. Entretanto, essas variáveis ainda não estão totalmente determinadas, e a realização de mais estudos buscando identificá-las é imprescindível para a melhor atuação de fisioterapeutas na prática clínica pediátrica.
Changes during the development have been studied under diverse theories. Currently, the theory of the dynamic systems has been widely discussed since it answers some questions regarding the motor development. The objectives of this paper are: to define and to discuss on the terms used in the theory of the dynamic systems: to apply the theory to the study of the child motor development; and to discuss the application of this theory in the practical clinic of pediatric physical therapists. Concepts as multicausality, time scales, self-organization, order parameters, control parameters, attractor states and phase transition are presented and discussed. Several factors as the intrinsic properties of the individual, the context and the task intervene with equal importance for the emergency of abilities and must be taken into consideration during the treatment. Moreover, the order parameters characterizing a pattern and the control parameters modifying this pattern must be identified, since the promotion of alterations in the pattern during the intervention is frequently the goal. However, these variables are still not fully determined, and more studies searching for identifying them are essential for the best performance of physical therapists in the pediatric clinic.
