RESUMO

Introduction: Rehabilitation of patients with flabby ridgesposes a great amount of difficulty for a prosthodontist. Asthe flabby tissues easily gets distorted while impressionmaking, the dentures fabricated on such foundations are oftencompromised in its retention and stability.Case report: Liquid supported denture fabricated usingmodified window impression technique in this case usesmucostatic impression technique where flabby tissue is locatedand the denture base is covered with a preshaped, closed fittingflexible PVC sheet which help in continued adaptation of thedenture to the mucosa in the resting and functional states. Conclusion: Liquid supported denture fabricated usingmodified window impression technique can stand a betteroption in case of flabby ridges while considering conventionalprosthodontics. This concept can further improve the patient’scomfort and acceptance because of uniform distribution ofmasticatory forces.

RESUMO

Flabby ridges adversely affect the stability of complete dentures. For the management it is suggested that soft tissues reconditioned before making definitive dentures, and modified impression techniques used for the flabby ridges. Also, correct record of centric relation is important in complete dentures. This case of 67-year-old edentulous female patient had atrophied ridges on the mandible and the flabby ridge on the maxilla. Treatment dentures were fabricated using gothic arch tracing method and tissue conditioner. Definitive dentures were made using window opening impression technique, the gothic arch tracing method, and lingualized occlusion. The patient was satisfied with the function and esthetic quality of the new prostheses.

RESUMO

Severely resorbed ridges with flabby mucosa often poses great challenge for Prosthodontist in providing a complete denture which is functionally acceptable and causes minimal trauma to the underlying tissues. Liquid supported denture can be a permanent solution in edentulous patients with diabetes, xerostomia and atrophied ridge. Liquid-supported dentures will have optimal stress distribution during masticatory function.he aim of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of different lengths of time of passive ultrasonic irrigation (PUI) in removing calcium hydroxide (CH) paste from root canal, using scanning electron microscopy and energy dispersive spectrometry (SEM/EDS).

RESUMO

Objective:To evaluate the impression accuracy of different impression methods for flabby ridge.Methods:5 patients with flabby ridge were included.Conventional technique, perforation technique and window opening technique were performed to make im-pressions and then final models were prepared. The optical models of the flabby ridge area were obtained both in patients'mouths and on the master casts by intraoral optical scanner.Data handling and computations were made by using 3D inspection and metrology soft-ware,regarding SD,Mean +and Mean -,with subsequent analysis. Results:The 3D deviation of the models obtained by conventional technique was the biggest, that obtained by window opening technique was the least. Conclusion:Window opening technique can de-crease the deformation of flabby ridge impression.
