RESUMO

Objective To study the serum small dense low density lipoprotein-cholesterol (sdLDL-C)concentration in patients with clinical and sub-clinical primary hypothyroidism, and to explore the clinical significance of serum sdLDL-C determination in pa-tients with hypothyroidism. Methods 60 patients with clinical hypothyroidism(clinical hypothyroidism group),96 cases with sub-clinical hypothyroidism(sub-clinical hypothyroidism group)and 132 normal subjects (normal group)were enrolled in the study. FT3,FT4,thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH),TG,TC,HDL-C,LDL-C,apolipoprotein AⅠ(ApoAⅠ),apolipoprotein B (ApoB), and sdLDL-C concentrations were measured.Analysis of Variance,Kruskal-Wallis H test and Spearman rank correlation analysis were used for statistical analysis. Results The concentration of sdLDL-C in sub-clinical hypothyroidism group was significantly higher than that in normal group (t=5.78,P <0.01),the concentration of sdLDL-C in clinical hypothyroidism group was signifi-cantly higher than that in sub-clinical hypothyroidism group(t=-2.88,P <0.01)and in normal group (t=6.68,P <0.01).There was statistically significant difference among groups (F =37.66,P <0.01).Correlation analysis showed that sdLDL-C in primary hypothyroidism patients was positively correlated with LgTSH (r =0.203,P =0.011 ),and negatively correlated with FT4 (r =-0.169,P =0.035).Conclusion The high concentration of sdLDL-C is a manifestation of dyslipidemia in primary hypothyroidism patients, and an important risk factor for atherosclerosis in primary hypothyroidism patients.

RESUMO

ObjectiveTo investigate the effects of thyroid hormone tablets on the outcome of patients with primary nephritic syndrome.MethodsRadioimmunoassay(RIA) was used to determine the level of serum FT3,FT4 and TSH before and after the routine treatment in 36 healthy patients and 72 patients with primary nephritic syndrome and hypothyroidism. The curative effect of thyroid hormone tablets was observed.ResultsThe levels of FT3 and FT4 [ (1.67 ± 0.39)pmol/L,(8.3 ± 2.2 )pmol/L] in patients group were significantly lower than that in control group (t =12.635,16.304,P =0.041,0.032 ).But the level of TSH was not different before and after treatment( t =2.245,P >0.05).The levels of FT3 and FT4 after treatment were higher than before treateat (P <0.01 ).At the corresponding period, the levels of FT3 and FT4 in the observation group with thyroid hormone tablets were significantly higher than that in the group with routine treatment. At the same time, the treatment time for complete remission was also shorter, and after 12 months the catabatic rate (72.2%) was higher than routine treatment( x2 =21.04,P <0.05 ).ConclusionTreatment with, thyroid hormone tablets could shorten the course of the disease and increase the catabatic rate.

RESUMO

Thyroid dysfunction, mostly hypothyroidism is a frequent disorder in the general population, especially among women. Hypothyroidism is defined as a deficiency of thyroid activity. Hypothyroidism is a clinical syndrome that results from insufficient production or action of thyroid hormones, leading to a total decrease of metabolic processes. It results from reduced secretion of both thyroxine (T4) and triiodothyronine (T3). The disorder slows the metabolism, with classic symptoms of slowness of movement, tiredness, low energy, change in appearance and voice, weight gain, cold intolerance, poor libido and constipation. Furthermore, abnormalities of lipid metabolism, hyperhomocysteinemia, and arterial hypertension occur with increased frequency in hypothyroidism and are associated with an increased risk of premature atherosclerotic vascular disease. Treatment with thyroid hormones results in an increase in basal energy expenditure, which affects the synthesis, mobilization and degradation of lipids.
