RESUMO

Paper media including the People's Daily, Guangming Daily, Health News and Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine were the main media that spread the thought and policy of integrative medicine (IM) in the early stage of the integration of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) and Western medicine (WM) in China. Issues including paper media and its roles for spreading IM, from "TCM learning from WM" to "WM learning from TCM", advocating integration of TCM and WM, promoting IM through multiple channels were analyzed in this article, so as to show the propagation process of IM in China and the roles of the paper media. It was shown that strengthening the propaganda of IM through mainstream media, strengthening media convergence and the role of new media are important in spreading the thought of IM.

RESUMO

Infertility with diminished ovarian reserve(DOR) is a major problem in the field of reproductive health and it has attracted great attention worldwidely.Function deficiency of the kidney is one of the fundamental pathogenesis for DOR.Traditional Chinese medicines(TCMs) have a long history with rich experience for the treatment of infertility. Some TCMs are very effective in the treatment of kidney deficiency for infertility with DOR.The integrated TCMs and western medicine, and combination of disease differentiation and syndrome differentiation may help for diagnosis and treatment of infertility with DOR.We adopt the concept of unified treatment for special disease, and the methods and principle of treatment can be used. Therefore,we adopt the TCM concept of kidney-tonifying,blood-nourishing,liver-dispersing and spleen-invigorating.The TCMs kidney-tonifying formulae are added and subtracted.TCMs can regulate the reproductive function via multiple systems for simultaneous conditioning of follicular development and ovulation. At the same time,a hypothesis of " simultaneous conditioning of follicular development and ovulation" was proposed.Two-stage therapy with integrated TCMs and western medicine has been used, mainly for increasing the number of eggs, and improving follicle quality. The goal is to achieve simultaneous conditioning of follicular development and ovulation and ultimately for effective treatment of infertility with DOR.

RESUMO

Objective: To observe the effect of Xuebijing Injection on the expression of interleukin-6 (IL-6) and tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) in patients with severe pneumonia. Methods: Totally 100 patients with severe pneumonia were randomly assigned to the conventional treatment group (n = 50) and Xuebijing treatment group (n = 50). Each group was given conventional treatment, while in the Xuebijing treatment group, Xuebijing Injection was additionally given for consecutive 7 d. Ten healthy people were chosen as normal control group. The changes of patients' body temperature, white blood cell count, C-reactive protein, arterial oxygenation, and oxygenation index in two groups were compared. The expression levels of IL-6 and TNF-α were detected by ELISA method at different time points. Results: In conventional treatment group and Xuebijing treatment group, the patients' body temperature, white blood cell count, C-reactive protein, arterial oxygenation, and oxygenation index were significantly improved after treatment (P < 0.01). Compared with conventional treatment group, in Xuebijing treatment group, these indicators were significantly improved after treatment (P < 0.05 or 0.01). Compared with normal control group, in conventional treatment group and Xuebijing treatment group, the expression levels of IL-6 and TNF-α were significantly higher. Compared with the conventional treatment group, in Xuebijing treatment group, the expression levels of IL-6 and TNF-α had no significant difference before the treatment. On days 3 and 7 after Xuebijing administration, the expression levels of IL-6 and TNF-α decreased than those before the treatment. The expression levels of IL-6 and TNF-α in Xuebijing treatment group significantly decreased than those in the conventional treatment group. Conclusion: Xuebijing Injection can reduce the levels of IL-6 and TNF-α in patients with severe pneumonia, thus this agent has certain auxiliary therapeutic effect in the treatment of patients with severe pneumonia.
