ABSTRACT Dentoalveolar trauma is considered the second cause of dental emergencies, with children and adolescents being the most affected. The etiology is related to age: in preschool children, falls are a very common cause of traumatic dental injuries, while in school-age children, injuries are more frequent from sports activities. Dental falls usually happen in academic environments such as school, where the teacher is the main subject to whom ones go for the preliminary attention of this type of event. For such reasons, the knowledge and attitudes possessed by teachers are important, because their actions will determine the prognosis and treatment, especially due to the relationship between the time elapsed and the actions carried out by the dental professional. The objective of this systematic review was to describe the existence of knowledge and attitudes of primary and secondary school teachers on the management of dentoalveolar trauma. In the revision we evidence N = 9 publications met the eligibility criteria, using the Pubmed databases, Scielo and Clinical Keys and descriptors in English and Spanish. It is evident that there is inadequate knowledge, while the teacher's attitude towards dental trauma in most of the studies was not evaluated.

Background@#Pain management affects the quality of life of patients especially those transitioning to chronic or even palliative care. Objectives: This study investigated the knowledge and attitudes of residents on opioid use in palliative patients and factors affecting it at Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center (VSMMC), Cebu.@*Methods@#A cross-sectional study with 94 residents from different departments of VSMMC in April 2020 – December 2020 was done. Survey questionnaires used with internal consistency reliability at (alpha r>.70) were adopted and data processing included means, frequencies, percentages, and Chi-square with a p-value < .05.@*Results@#About 43.62 % of respondents have inadequate knowledge and 36.2% have inadequate attitudes. Psychometric scale showed negative attitudes on constructs of addiction, operational use and non-dependence risks. Analyses showed no significant associations between knowledge and sex, training, year level, civil status, and Continuing Medical Education. Significant relationships exist between attitudes and residency training and between knowledge and attitudes.@*Conclusion@#A considerable gap of knowledge and attitudes exists among residents. The attitude towards morphine use is also found to be negative. These primarily undermine the quality of life of patients suffering from pain and further worsened by factors such as inadequate supply of morphine at the hospital and lack of S2 ownership among physicians.

SUMMARY OBJECTIVE: Good knowledge of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) among healthcare workers is essential for keeping health systems active and controlling the outbreak. We aimed to investigate the knowledge and attitudes of Emergency Medical Service (EMS) employees who fight COVID-19 at the forefront. METHODS: A total of 400 EMS workers (doctors, nurses, emergency medical technicians, paramedics, and ambulance drivers) were included in this study. Knowledge, attitude, and preventive behaviors for COVID-19 were evaluated using an online questionnaire. RESULTS: A total of 275 EMS workers participated in the study with a response rate of 68.8%. The respondents reported that their highest common sources of knowledge about COVID-19 were social media and television (n=240, 88%). Overall, > 96% of the participants had adequate knowledge about the transmission routes of COVID-19. Among the respondents, 36% of them were unaware of the correct hand washing or scrubbing technique. In addition, 78% of the participants had poor knowledge about floor and surface disinfection. The majority of the participants exhibited inaccurate attitudes toward the use of personal preventive equipment. More than half of EMS workers (52%) agreed that a surgical mask is not enough during the procedures that do not generate aerosol. Moreover, a significant proportion of the participants (66%) perceived that a N95 mask is required. CONCLUSIONS: As a consequence, although emergency workers have sufficient basic knowledge about COVID-19, there is a need for postgraduate training in many subjects.

Introduction: Vaccination, a health action that has allowed to decrease mortality and to eradicate many diseases, may be at risk as a result of misinformation of parents and campaigns led by movements against vaccines. Objective: To describe and analyze the knowledge and attitudes of parents of newborns and children of 2 and more months of age against the application of vaccines. Method: Exploratory study performed by application of a questionnaire to parents attending the UC CHRISTUS health network. Results: Knowledge and attitude of parents of newborns is rated as very good. 32.5% think that the vaccines can cause damage or claim not to know and have wrong knowledge; vaccination is considered a measure in favor of their childrens' health, but manifest that scarce information does not allow to make right decisions and suspect economic interests behind them. The parents of older children have no precise knowledge of the existing calendar, nor of the name of vaccines. They think that the existing information does not allow them to be sure of the real benefits, with some of them even feeling forced to vaccinate their children. Discussion: It is urgent to educate and answer questions about the importance and safety of vaccines and to perform studies at a national level.

Introduction Cervical cancer is one of the most common types of cancer in women worldwide. It can be prevented by identifying pre-cancer lesions at early stages using Pap smear screening and treating these lesions. Knowledge and attitude on cervical cancer and Pap smear tests are associated with actual participation in cervical cancer screening. Therefore, our study aimed to investigate cervical cancer and Pap smear knowledge and attitudes among Mongolian women. Materials and Methods A total of 671 women aged 30 to 60 years from urban and rural areas participated in the study. The multiple clusters sampling method was used. We examined the relations of socio-demographic characteristics with lack of knowledge and negative attitude towards Pap smear tests by using a multilogistic regression analysis. Result The response rate was 89% (671/750). 62% of the participants correctly answered less than 4 out of 8 questions about cervical cancer risk factors. Also 47,2% and 79,3% of the total number of the women had never heard of Pap Smear and HPV. Only 16,4% of the respondents have some knowledge about them. Almost all (93%) participants agreed that there is a defficiency of information about cancer and its screening.58% and 28% of respondents said that they would participate in Pap smear tests voluntarily and agree to vaccinate their daughters. Positive attitude on Pap smear tests was higher among women living in rural areas and those who have had a Pap smear test. Conclusions Cervical cancer and Pap smear knowledge and attitude among the women in Mongolia are low. Having higher education and higher income level did not ensure positive attitude to cervical cancer screening. Strategies for communicating accurate information about cervical cancer, prevention, and detection as well as risk and treatment of cervical cancer are needed.
RESUMO
Objective To understand the knowledge and attitudes towards second hand smoking(SHS) among restaurant or bar patronage in five cities in China. Methods 405 restaurants and bars were conveniently selected in 5 cities as Beijing, Wuhan, Xi'an, Kunming and Guiyang. From each of these hospitality venues, at least 3 patrons, including one smoker, one female non-smoker and one male nonsmoker were asked to answer a questionnaire on their knowledge and attitudes towards SHS and smoking policies in public places. Results 43.1% of the respondents had good knowledge on SHS hazards. 65%reported that those who smoked around them had never asked for their permission, and about 60%admitted that they had never asked others to stop smoking in front of them. There were almost two thirds of patrons reporting that they once felt discomfort of SHS in restaurants or bars, nearly half of whom chose free restaurants and bars' initiations were only 30.0% and 19.8%, respectively. In Beijing, logistic regression model analyses showed that those who supporting 100 % smoke-free restaurants and bars tended to be non-smokers, aged 25 years or older and to have had at least college education. Also in Beijing, those being female, having at least college education or non-smokers were more likely to choose restaurants and bars with smoking restrictions. Conclusion Though knowledge on SHS hospitality patronage was still not high or popular for the public to refuse SHS exposure, banning smoking in hospitality venues was public's inclination and would become a trend in public health endeavor.
