RESUMO

Objective To explore the effect of long-term depleted uranium (DU)ingestion on testosterone production in rats, and its involvement mechanism. Methods Male and female rats (F0 and F1 respectively) for 160 days, respectively. The contents of testosterone (T), luteinizing hormone (LH), and follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) in serum were detected in 20 months of F0 generations, and 15 months of F1 generations. RT-PCR was used to analyze the levels of StAR mRNA and P450scc mRNA. Results Compared with the normal control group, the testosterone contents in exposed F0 and F1 generations increased, the lowest was 51.73 U/L, but those of LH and FSH decreased. The expression of StAR mRNA in the low-doze group of F1 generation (StAR/β-actin = 1.35) was up-regulated, down-regulated for other groups.compared with the normal control group (P450scc/β-actin = 0. 313), the expression of P450scc mRNA in the low- and high-dose groups of F0 generation were decreased (P450scc/β-actin = 0.21), and those in the low- and high-dose groups of F1generation were increased (P450scc/β-actin = 0.623) (P ≤ 0.01). Conclusion Long-term DU exposure inhibit the male reproduction by intervening the sexual hormone production through down-regulated the expression of StAR mRNA and P450scc roRNA.

RESUMO

Formaldehyde is a chemical which is traditionally used as disinfectant and preservative. Recently, formaldehyde becomes raw material of adhesive which is widely used for indoor decoration. It has been recently reported in many animal experiments that formaldehyde had adverse effects on male reproductive endocrine, sperm quantity and quality, and but few reports were obtained about the adverse effects of formaldehyde on male reproductive system in human beings. Damage to genetic material, induced by lipid peroxidation and cell apoptosis is the possible mechanism of toxic effect. Male reproductive toxicity and mechanism of formaldehyde were discussed, and the recent researches were reviewed in the present paper.

RESUMO

Recently,to assess the reproductive effects of bisphenol A (BPA),the environmental estrogen, has become a focus of stusy. Investigations,to date, have focused on the effects on the reproductive system including the morphogenesis of tissues and organs, endocrine and the toxic mechanisms of action, particularly in males. Based on the study results concerning BPA’s impacts on male reproduction, the further study directions in this field were presented in this paper.

RESUMO

Objective To explore the effect of cerium nitrate on activity of the enzyme related to energy metabolism, cell cycle and apoptosis of testiculus cell in male mice. Methods A total of 100 male mice were distributed randomly into negative control group, cytoxan group, cerium nitrate groups in low dose(15mg/kg),medium dose(30mg/kg),high dose(60mg/kg).Whole mice were given corresponding reagent for 60 days.Enzyme-chemical method was used to detect the activity of lactate dehydrogenase(LDH),sorbitol dehydrogenase(SODH),succinic dehydrogenase(SDH),glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase(G-6PD).Cell cycle and apoptosis of testiculus cell were studied by the way of one-fluorescence dying method on flow cytometer. Results 15mg/kg cerium nitrate could promote the activity of LDH,SODH,SDH and G-6PD of testiculus cell compared with that of cytoxan(P
