RESUMO

OBJECTIVES@#This study aimed to explore the relationship between alveolar cleft and secondary nasal deformity post unilateral cleft lip repair in adults.@*METHODS@#A total of 27 patients aged 16-30 years old with unilateral secondary nasal deformity and alveolar cleft were included, 13 of whom underwent bone grafting. Spiral CT data of all preoperative and postoperative patients who had alveolar bone grafting were collected. Then, Mimics software was used for three-dimensional reconstruction to evaluate the correlation between the width, height, and volume of the alveolar cleft and those of the nasal deformity. The difference in nasal deformity before and after alveolar bone grafting was also explored.@*RESULTS@#The width of the alveolar cleft was positively correlated with the difference in bilateral nostril floor width (P<0.05). As the effective depth of the alveolar cleft increased, the sub-alare inclination angle largened (P<0.05). However, no significant difference was found in the nasal deformity between before and after alveolar bone grafting.@*CONCLUSIONS@#Alveolar cleft is closely related to secondary nasal deformities post unilateral cleft lip repair, especially nasal floor deformities. Alveolar bone grafting benefits adult patients for the improvement of secondary nasal deformities post unilateral cleft lip repair.

RESUMO

Objective To explore the application and efficacy of autogenous septal cartilage in the correction of cleft lip nasal deformity. Methods A total of 31 patients with secondary nasal deformity of cleft lip were involved in this study. After autologous nasal cartilage was released, the dislocation of nasal cartilage was corrected, nasal septum cartilage was used as substitute to raise the alar collapse,to reshape the nasal tip cartilage structure and correct the nasal deformity. Results Postoperative incision was primarily healing. For cartilage donor area there was no serious complications, and incision scar was concealed and unobvious; after 6 months to 2 years follow-up,there was no cartilage absorption deformation, the tip of the nose was flat, crack side nosewing collapses, and nasal columella skew was totally corrected, with stable rhinoplasty effects. Conclusions For secondary nasal deformity of cleft lip,the use of nasal septum cartilage to repair nose deformity can not only solve the cartilage source, but also give septal straightening and at the same time the correction effect of external nasal deformity is good.

RESUMO

Objective To explore the methodology of repairing secondary nasal deformity of congenital unilateral cleft lip after operation and clinical outcome of the patients. Methods The repairing operation were performed in 46 cases,in which polyterafluoroethylene (PTFE) implants were inserted into a pocket under the nasal dorsum, ala or base through a small incision. Results The flat nasal dorsa, tips and hollow nosal base were elevated. The profile view of noses was improved apparently. The outcome was satisfactory. Conclusion PTFE is a optimal plastic material, which is compatible perfectly with circumferential tissues. The outcome of filling is excellent. Therefore, this technique is one of the efficient methods to repair secondarynasal deformity of unilateral cleft lip.
