RESUMO

OBJECTIVES@#This study aimed to evaluate the color stability of tetracycline teeth restored with ceramic veneers of different thicknesses combined with different resin cement systems after aging.@*METHODS@#Twenty patients with tetracycline teeth, including two maxillary central incisors, were selected clinically. The patients were randomly divided into four groups and restored with 0.5 and 0.75 mm ceramic veneers by using a veneer adhesive system, either with light-cured or dual-cured reaction. The color difference (ΔE) values after cementation and 1, 6, 12, and 24 months of use were obtained by quantification of L*, a*, and b* values with a colorimeter. The results were analyzed statistically with two-way ANOVA and Student's @*RESULTS@#The ΔE values of ceramic veneers detected after aging were less than 2.25. The 0.5 mm groups exhibited greater color change than the 0.75 mm-thick veneers (@*CONCLUSIONS@#Resin cements and veneer thickness influence the color of ceramic veneers after aging. Cementation of veneers with either dual- or light-cured resin cements does not affect the long-term color stability of tetracycline teeth differently.

RESUMO

Objective: To evaluate the color effect of esthetic rehabilitation of anterior teeth restored with the minimal and no-preparation veneers and to analyze the influence factors of satisfaction. Methods: 30 patients were divided into group A (9 patients with tetracycline discoloured teeth treated with 72 veneers) and group B (21 patients with non-tetracycline teeth treated with 66 veneers) . All the selected teeth were restored with the minimal and non-preparation veneers. Before the teeth were prepared and after veneers were cemented, Olympus Crystaleye was employed to obtain L*, a*, b*values of each tooth. The shade was selected according to the patients' expectation and dentist's advice. The color difference (ΔE) before and after restoration of group A and group B, the color difference (ΔE1) between the tooth color after restoration and the expectation color of the patients, the relationship of the satisfaction degree and the color difference (ΔE1), the lightness difference (ΔL*), Δa*and Δb*were analyzed by SPSS 20. 0. Results: After cemented, the color of teeth-veneer-complex obviously improved in both groups. The color difference (ΔE1) between the tooth color before and after restoration, and the expected color between the 2 group was significant (P < 0. 05) . ΔE1, ΔL*, Δa*had great influence on the satisfaction of dentists and patients (P < 0. 05) . Conclusion: The appearance of non-tetracycline teeth restored with the minimal and no-preparation veneers was excellent. The more of the color of the teeth-veneer-complex matched the expectation color, the higher the patients are satisfied with the restorations. The less of the lightness difference, the higher the patients are satisfied with the restorations.

RESUMO

Objective To evaluate the long-dated therapeutic dfficacy of carbamide peroxide on tetracycline teeth. Methods 10 % carbamide peroxide was prepared as a bleaching solution for the treatment of tetracyclineteeth. 306 patients were treated with aspecial bleaching salver containing the solution for 7-10 h in aperiod of 10-30 d. The color changes of the teeth were observed. Follow-up data were obtained in 201 patients. Results Effective rate of bleaching was 86.6% in patients with tetracycline teeth. After following-up for 6 months in 201 patients, 14.6% of them returned to the original color of teeth, but there was still a high-rate of satisfaction after 1-2 years follow-up, in which 30 patients received repeated therapy every two years for 11 years with satisfactory results. Conclusion 10% carbamide peroxide in the treatment of tetracycline teeth is an effective method. The lighter in teeth color, the better the effect of bleaching. But the therapeutic efficacy is instable and a long-dated satisfaction can be obtained with repeated treatment.
