Surgical principles of Ibn Sina (Avicenna).

Ibn Sina is one of the famous physicians of Muslim era. He is accepted as Physician par excellence. In his magnum opus, Al-Qanoon, he has collected all the knowledge of medicine from Hindu, Greek and Islamic sources known in tenth-century to eleventh centuries. It includes principles of surgery as well. Though we are not sure how much surgery he did himself as part of his memoirs are lost but he gives the idea of practice of Surgery of the period. In addition to anatomy, physiology and pathology he goes in the management of most surgical problems from head to toe. He is the first to describe the antiseptic properties of wine. We can also attribute to him the first description of Bennet’s fracture and his description of late splintage of fractures, now we now know as described by George Perkins. He had a great influence on the practice of medicine in the later centuries.

Venesection Ventouse Coordinated with Helium-neon Laser Combined with Drugs Treat Early Herpes Zoster / 浙江中医药大学学报

Objective]Observe the clinical effect of early herpes zoster which were treated by venesection ventouse combined with helium-neon laser and drugs. [Methods]The control group 32 cases used Famciclovir Tablet,transfer factor capsules,mecobalamin and acyclovir cream-drug for external use. While the experimental group 32 cases used Famciclovir Tablet,transfer factor capsules,mecobalamin and acyclovir cream-drug for external use. While the experimental group besides taking above-medicine, were treated with venesection ventouse and helium-neon laser at the pathological change. [Results]The control group used to cure for an average of 13 ±2.5 days. The experimental group used to cure for an average of 9.6 ±2.4 days. There were significant differences(P<0.05). [Conclusion] Early herpes zoster treated by venesection ventouse combined with helium-neon laser and drugs, can significantly shorten the duration of symptoms, alleviate suffering, and has good clinical efficacy.

Curative Observation and Nursing of Shingles Treated with Venesection and Cupping plus Yunnan White Powder External Application / 国际中医中药杂志

Objective To observe the therapeutic effects of treating shingles with venesection and cuppingplus Yunnan White Powder external application and to observe the effect of mental intervention and nursing on clinical healing time.Methods 100 cases with shingles were randomly recruited into two treatment groups(Group A and Group B)and a control group.Both treatment groups were treated with venesection and cupping plus yunnan white powder external application,in addition,group B was treated with mental intervention and nursing care.The control group was treated with Aciclovir ointment.Results As compared with the control group,both treatment groups showed significant difierences in the time of relieving pain,removing swell,forming a scab,and healing(P＜0.01);Compared with group A,group B showed a shortened healing time with P＜0.05.Conclusion It is effective to treat shingles with venesection and cupping plus yunnan white powder.Mental Intervention and nursing can promote the healing time and improve the degree of satisfaction.
