RESUMO

Yoga is believed to be a safe practice; nonetheless, as the number of yoga practitioners has grown, so has the incidence of yoga-related injuries. Overall, lower extremity injuries comprised 64% of total injuries; specifically, the hip, hamstring, knee, ankle, feet and toe. Although a few research studies have quantified the hamstring muscle activities in various yoga asanas, evidence correlating it to functional anatomy is scarce. Therefore, the objective of this narrative review is to examine the literature and analyse hamstrings activity and its relationship to yogic postures, as well as yoga-related injuries, to establish which poses provide the most risk of damage, and to suggest injury-prevention techniques. The following electronic databases were used to conduct the literature search: Cochrane Library, PubMed, Google Scholar, EMBASE, and Web of Science. hamstring muscle injuries OR yoga and rehabilitation OR intervention AND electromyography was among the search phrases utilized. Such information is important for yoga teachers, yoga therapists to help selecting yoga posture for hamstring muscle imbalance condition and avoiding posture to prevent hamstring muscle injury.

RESUMO

Objective The single leg support tree pose and Yan balace of yoga was selected to compare the biomechanical characteristics of lower limb joint angles, joint force and muscle strength for professional and non-professional yoga practitioners, so as to provide theoretical basis for scientific fitness of yoga beginners and exercise prescription determined by rehabilitation physicians. Methods BTS infrared motion capture system was used to collect kinematic data, Kistler forceplate was used to collect dynamic data, AnyBody 7.0 simulation software was used to calculate the joint force and muscle strength, and Biodex balance system was used to evaluate the stability of single support. Results In both tree pose and Yan balance, the muscle strength of lower limbs in professional group was greater than that in non-professional group. Support leg of tree pose: the muscle strength of the tibialis anterior, gluteus medius posterior, iliac medialis and sartorius in professional group was greater than that in non-professional group (P<0.05). Balance leg of tree pose: the muscle strength of the biceps femoris breve, sartorius, piriformis, gemellus inferior, iliac lateralis, iliac medialis, gluteus maximus inferior, obturator internus in professional group was greater than that in non-professional group (P<0.05). Support leg of Yan balance: the muscle strength of tibialis anterior, extensor digitorum longus, extensor hallucis longus, obturator internus, gluteus maximus superior in the professional group was greater than the non-professional group (P<0.05). Balance leg of Yan balance: The muscle strength of extensor hallucis longus in professional group was greater than that in non-professional group (P<0.05). The scores of front-rear, overall of PS-BI, overall, front-rear, left-right of athlete single leg (ASL) in professional group were significantly lower than those in non-professional group (P<0.05). Conclusions The joint angle will affect the degree of muscle exercise in lower limbs. During yoga practice, attention should be paid to the standard of postures and the exercise of corresponding muscles. In tree pose, the muscle strength of both legs in non-professional group was significantly different from that in professional group, and the difference in Yan balance was more obvious on the supporting leg. Yoga practice can improve the stability of single leg support in multiple directions.

OBJECTIVE@#To observe the clinical efficacy of warm acupuncture combined with yoga posture method in the treatment of periarthritis with frozen period.@*METHODS@#Ninety patients with periarthritis who met the inclusion criteria were randomly divided into a control group 1, a control group 2 and an observation group, 30 cases in each group. Warm acupuncture was applied in the control group 1 (Jianzhen (SI 9), Jianyu (LI 15), Jianliao (TE 14), etc were selected), yoga posture method was applied in the control group 2, warm acupuncture combined with yoga posture method were given in the observation group, the treatment was given once a day, 10 times as a course with 2 days between courses and continuous for 2 courses. After 2 courses of treatment, the shoulder joint pain score and shoulder function grading were used to evaluate the clinical efficacy, and the clinical efficacy was observed.@*RESULTS@#①The pain scores of the three groups were significantly lower after treatment (all 0.05). ②After treatment, the functional classification of shoulder joints were significantly improved in the three groups (all 0.05). ③After 2 courses of treatment, the effective rate of the observation group was 86.7% (26/30), which was better than 70.0% (21/30) in the control group 1 and 76.7% (23/30) in the control group 2 (both <0.05).@*CONCLUSION@#Warm acupuncture combined with yoga posture method can effectively relieve shoulder pain and improve dysfunction. The clinical comprehensive effect is better than simple acupuncture and yoga posture method.
