RESUMO

To look into the feasibility of using cobra snake venom in suppressing breast cancer tissue through inhibition of nucleic acid synthesis. Samples of breast cancerous tissue, obtained from Atomic Energy Medical Center, LMCH, Jamshoro, incubated with varying concentrations of venom and without venom [as controls] were assayed for macro-molecular [RNA and DNA] levels No. change in the control samples while a prominent and significant fall in nucleic acid contents has been noted in venom treated tissues. Also, maximum effect was observed with 25ug/ml dose. Snake venom strongly inhibited the formation of nucleic acids in the breast cancerous tissues. It may bring a fall in cell proliferation, thus there is hope that venom could be used as an anti-cancerous drug in the future

RESUMO

The effect of LD50 treatment of NC and Solfac [cyfluthrin] on the whole body nucleic acids of adult Musca domestica L. [PCSIR strain] revealed 30.23% and 19.30% inhibition of RNA and DNA by NC and 17.70% and 15.63% by Solfac, respectively

RESUMO

Effect of combined estrogen-progesterone [EP] on DNA and RNA contents of liver and kidney in nondiabetic and diabetic female rats was studied. RNA content was elevated in liver, while DNA content was not affective after treatment with EP. But in kidney, EP treatment had no effect on RNA content. Diabetes caused reduction in RNA and elevation in DNA content in highly significant effects in both liver and kidney. Ovariectomy had no effect on RNA and DNA of kidney, but it caused significant elevation in RNA and DNA contents in liver
