Se realizó una búsqueda en Pubmed con los siguientes términos: ("COVID-19" OR "coronavirus" OR "SARS-Cov-2") y ("gastrointesti-nal" OR "transmission" OR "intestinal" OR "digestive" OR "endoscopy" OR "esophagogastroduodenoscopy" OR "colonoscopy").

Last December, SARS-CoV-2 emerged in Wuhan, China, like a new coronavirus, producing the coronavirus disease (COVID-19), that as of April 15, 2020, it has infected more than 2,000,000 people worldwide and caused 128,833 deaths. Due to the way SARS-CoV-2 is transmitted, endoscopy rooms and endoscopic pro-cedures are an easy source of dissemination, as they fulfill the different characteristics of a contaminated envi-ronment for patients and healthcare personnel involved in endoscopic procedures. It is of great importance to establish measures within endoscopy units to prevent and reduce the risk of spreading this infection, creating a safe environment that protects patients and health personnel. A Pubmed search was performed with the following terms: ("COVID-19" OR "coronavirus" OR "SARS-Cov-2") and ("gastrointestinal" OR "transmission" OR "intestinal" OR "digestive" OR "endoscopy "OR" esophagogastroduodenoscopy "OR" colonoscopy "). The gastroenterology team of our institution, considers that all patients brought to endoscopic procedures should be classified as high risk and presents the recommendations that all healthcare staff in endoscopy units, should take into account to reduce the risk of infection.(AU)

RESUMO

Malnutrition is common in patients with end-stage liver disease (ESLD) and is an independent risk factor for survival, therefore it should be treated as the same important guideline as ascites and hepatic encephalopathy. However, up to now, there is no clinical nutrition guideline for patients with ESLD in China. In order to standardize the nutrition treatment, Chinese Society of Hepatology (CSH) and Chinese Society of Gastroenterology (CSGE), Chinese Medical Association(CMA) co-organized and co-developed this guideline. Recommendations on nutritional screening and assessment as well as principles of intervention and management in patients with ESLD were provided to help clinicians make rational decisions on clinical malnutrition.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND/AIMS: Interobserver variation by experience was documented for the diagnosis of esophagitis using the Los Angeles classification. The aim of this study was to evaluate whether interobserver agreement can be improved by higher levels of endoscopic experience in the diagnosis of erosive esophagitis. METHODS: Endoscopic images of 51 patients with gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) symptoms were obtained with conventional endoscopy and optimal band imaging (OBI). Endoscopists were divided into an expert group (16 gastroenterologic endoscopic specialists guaranteed by the Korean Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy) and a trainee group (individuals with fellowships, first year of specialty training in gastroenterology). All endoscopists had no or minimal experience with OBI. GERD was diagnosed using the Los Angeles classification with or without OBI. RESULTS: The mean weighted paired kappa statistics for interobserver agreement in grading erosive esophagitis by conventional endoscopy in the expert group was better than that in the trainee group (0.51 vs 0.42, p<0.05). The mean weighted paired k statistics in the expert group and in the trainee group based on conventional endoscopy with OBI did not differ (0.42, 0.42). CONCLUSIONS: Interobserver agreement in the expert group using conventional endoscopy was better than that in the trainee group. Endoscopic experience can improve the interobserver agreement in the grading of esophagitis using the Los Angeles classification.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND/AIMS: There is an increased risk for inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) patients to develop infections due to the use of immunomodulators and biologics. Several infections are preventable by immunizations. This study investigated the knowledge and awareness of Korean gastroenterologists regarding the vaccination of patients with IBD. METHODS: A self-reported questionnaire was sent by e-mail to the faculty members of tertiary hospitals. Gastroenterologists were asked ten questions regarding the immunization of patients with IBD. A total of 56 gastroenterologists completed the questionnaire. RESULTS: A majority of gastroenterologists (>60%) had rarely or never recorded an immunization history from their patients with IBD. Moreover, 50% to 70% of the gastroenterologists did not know that live vaccines should be avoided in immunosuppressed patients. The most commonly mentioned resistance to vaccinations was "the lack of concern and knowledge regarding vaccination." Gastroenterologists more frequently asked about the immunization history of influenza, pneumococcal, hepatitis A, and hepatitis B vaccines and recommended these vaccines more often than others. CONCLUSIONS: Korean gastroenterologists' awareness and knowledge regarding the vaccination of patients with IBD were very poor. Intensive educational programs on immunization guidelines directed toward gastroenterologists who care for patients with IBD are required to ensure that these patients receive the necessary vaccinations.

RESUMO

Antecedentes.
