RESUMO

Avaliaram-se o desempenho e as características bioquímicas de leitões desmamados, utilizando-se aditivos alternativos em substituição aos antibióticos. Foram utilizados 480 leitões machos, distribuídos em delineamento inteiramente ao acaso, composto por cinco tratamentos. A ração foi à base de milho, farelo de soja e um núcleo comercial para leitões. Os tratamentos consistiram em T1: ração sem aditivos, T2: dieta basal com antibiótico, T3: dieta basal com adição de prebiótico, T4: dieta basal com adição de probiótico e T5: dieta basal com adição de simbiótico. Foram avaliados peso corporal, ganho de peso, consumo de ração e conversão alimentar. Em 50 amostras de sangue de leitões, sendo 10 amostras de cada tratamento, avaliaram-se as concentrações séricas de proteínas totais, de albumina e globulina, a relação albumina:globulina e a fosfatase alcalina, creatinina, alanina aminotransferase, aspartato aminotransferase, gama- glutamiltransferase, colesterol, ureia, cálcio e fósforo e a relação cálcio:fósforo. A substituição de antibióticos por aditivos alternativos não influenciou o desempenho nem as características bioquímicas dos leitões.


The experiment was conducted to evaluate the performance and biochemical parameters in weaned piglets using alternative supplements to replace antibiotics. A total of 480 male pigs were used, randomly distributed in delineation with five treatments. The feed was based on corn, soybean meal and a commercial core for piglets. The treatments were T1: diet without supplements or basal diet, T2: basal diet with antibiotics, T3: basal diet with added probiotic, T4: basal diet with added probiotic and T5: basal diet with addition of symbiotic. In the experiment we evaluated performance characteristics, body weight, weight gain, feed intake and feed conversion. In the second part of the experiment, we evaluated the biochemical parameters of piglets used in the first experiment, fifty blood samples, ten samples of each treatment, were taken, and after separation of the clot, the serum was frozen at -20°C. Subsequently we analyzed the serum levels of total protein, albumin, globulin, albumin/globulin, ALP, creatinine, alanine aminotransferase, aspartate aminotransferase, gamma glutamyltransferase, cholesterol, urea, calcium, phosphorus and calcium/phosphorus ratio. No significant differences in biochemical parameters or in the performance of piglets submitted to different diets were found.

Se evaluó in vitro el potencial probiótico de cepas nativas aisladas de las heces de pollos asilvestrados (Gallus gallus) pertenecientes a los géneros Lactobacillus sp, Bacillus sp y levaduras tipo saccharomyces sp; se determinó la actividad probiótica mediante pruebas de resistencia al ácido (pH 3, 4, 5, 6, 7), sales de bilis (0,05, 0,1, 0,15, 0.3 %), tolerancia al NaCl (2, 4, 7, 10 %), actividad antagónica (Salmonella sp, E. coli), determinación del tipo de fermentación, crecimiento a temperaturas (28,37,43°C) y capacidad de crecimiento. Las cepas con mayor tolerancia se identificaron a través de pruebas bioquímicas y fermentación de carbohidratos. Como resultado se observó que tres microorganismos: Saccharomyces sp. (3), Bacillus sp. (7) y Lactobacillus sp. (14) poseen propiedades probióticas.


Was evaluated in vitro the probiotic potential of native strains isolated from feces of wild chickens (Gallus gallus) belonging to the genera Lactobacillus sp., Bacillus sp. and Saccharomyces ; probiotic activity was determined by testing acid resistance (pH 3, 4, 5.6, 7), bile salts (0,05, 0,1, 0,15, 0,3%), tolerance to NaCl (2, 4, 7,10%), antagonistic activity (Salmonella spp, E. coli), production gas (glucose), growth temperatures (28, 37, 43 ° C) and growth capacity. The most tolerant strains were identified by biochemical tests and carbohydrate fermentation. As a result it was found that three microorganisms: Saccharomyces sp. (3), Bacillus sp. (7) and Lactobacillus sp. (14) have probiotic properties.

Las células inmovilizadas tienen aplicación potencial en la producción de biocombustibles posibilitando la reutilización de biomasa, el empleo de diversas configuraciones de reactores y sistemas de cultivo, el manejo de altas densidades celulares alcanzando altas productividades volumétricas, y la simplificación de operaciones de procesamiento de salida. El objetivo del presente estudio fue evaluar la influencia del diámetro de las perlas y la densidad celular en la producción de etanol con Saccharomyces uvarum inmovilizada en alginato al 2% (p/v). Para ello se evaluaron tres diámetros de perlas de 2, 2,5 y 3 mm. Las células inmovilizadas fueron cultivadas en medio con 12% (p/v) de glucosa en biorreactores de columna sin agitación a 28 ºC, y se operaron cuatro lotes consecutivos de 48 horas cada uno. En cada lote se cuantificó el consumo de glucosa y se determinó la cantidad de etanol producido. Los rendimientos máximos de etanol para las esferas de 2, 2,5 y 3 mm de diámetro fueron 81, 83 y 97% del rendimiento teórico. La máxima productividad volumétrica de etanol fue 1,2 g/L-1/h-1 con un consumo de glucosa de 99,8% al término del lote, correspondiente a las columnas con perlas de 3 mm y con una producción de 0,017 g de etanol por esfera. La producción de etanol acumulada en cada sistema fue 178, 189 y 200 g/L-1 para 2, 2,5 y 3 mm respectivamente, encontrándose una relación directa con el diámetro de perla e inversa respecto a la densidad celular. Los rendimientos de etanol obtenidos son superiores a los reportados para la misma especie.


Immobilized cells have a potential use in biofuel production. They also allow re-using biomass, using diverse reactor configurations and culture systems, handling high cell densities to obtain high volumetric productivities and to simplify the downstream processing. The purpose of this work was to evaluate the influence of bead diameter and cell density on ethanol production using immobilized Saccharomyces uvarum in 2% (w/v) alginate. For that, three bead diameters (2, 2.5 and 3 mm) were evaluated. Immobilized cells were cultured on a 12% (w/v) glucose medium in column bioreactors without agitation at 28 °C for four 48 h–repeated batches. For each batch, both glucose consumption and ethanol produced were measured. Maximum yields for 2, 2.5 and 3 mm bead diameters were 81, 83 and 97% of theoretical yield. Maximum volumetric productivity of ethanol was 1.2 g/L-1/h-1 with 99.8% glucose consumption at the end of the batch, corresponding to the 3 mm bead diameter and the ethanol production per bead was 0.017 g. Accumulated ethanol production for each system was 178, 189 and 200 g/L-1 for 2, 2.5 y 3 mm bead diameter, respectively, being this directly related to bead diameter and inversely related to cell density. Ethanol yields were higher than those reported for the same species.

Administration of bio-tea (1.71 ml/kg) to normal albino mice caused hypoglycemia after 30 min which reached to maximum after 2 hr with a significant decrease in blood sugar level (BSL) and became normal beyond 8 hr. In alloxan-induced diabetic albino mice, repeated treatments of bio-tea for 3 days (five doses) brought about a significant fall in mean BSL. Continuous decrease in BSL was observed after 4 hr of administration of last dose of bio-tea. Hypoglycemic effect was persistent in alloxan-induced diabetic mice. Effect on glucose tolerance test showed a significant fall in BSL of bio-tea treated animals after 1 hr of glucose treatment indicating hypoglycemic effect of bio-tea.
