RESUMO
This study described the synthesis of 5-alkoxymethylsalicylic acid via the intermediate 5-chloromethylsalicylic acid. Esterification of the carboxylic group or/ and etherification of the phenolic hydroxyl group with a benzyl moiety afforded a variety of these compounds. The chemical structures of the prepared compounds were identified by IR, 1H-NMR, 13C-NMR and confirmed by elemental analysis
