RESUMO
Different factors that make it necessary a periodical monitoring of the levels of Cyclosporine A (CsA) in renal transplants are presented. There is a review of the various methods used for its measurement in blood or plasma: High performance liquid chromatography (HPLC); radioimmunoassay (RIA) and the fluorescent polarization immunoassay (FPIA). With the experience obtained in the Renal Transplant Center of the Hospital del Cobre, Rancagua, Chile, a series of evidences are given in order to recommend the implantation of the use of FPIA in Latin America
