Pessoas em situação de rua e seus cães: fragmentos de união em histórias de fragmentação / Homeless people and their dogs: relationship fragments in fragmented lives

RESUMO

Buscou-se, neste trabalho, investigar e compreender particularidades dos relacionamentos humano-canino em pessoas em situação de rua. Doze pessoas em situação de rua da região da Grande Vitória participaram de entrevistas individuais com roteiro semiestruturado. O material coletado foi analisado qualitativamente e dividido em três temas centrais. Dos resultados obtidos, destacam-se a visão da segurança pública sobre a população de rua, complicações para o acolhimento institucional e aspectos peculiares do laço afetivo homem-cão para a população estudada. Propõese atenção especial às políticas públicas que regulamentam acompanhamento de animais em instituições de abrigo ou serviços semelhantes. Ainda que o arcabouço conceitual para lidar com comportamentos sociais de animais seja distinto do utilizado para a compreensão de relações humanas, a lacuna pode ser parcialmente resolvida mediante aproximação dos conhecimentos do comportamento animal e de estudos de Psicologia Social. ABSTRACT

In this paper, we aim to investigate and understand the particularities of human-canine relationships in homeless people. Twelve homeless people from the metropolitan area of Vitória took part in individual semi-structured interviews. The collected data was analyzed qualitatively and divided into three central themes. From the results obtained, we highlight the public safety´s perception on homeless population, the complications for the permanency in institutions and the peculiar aspects of the human-canine affective bond for the studied population. Special attention is given to the public policies that regulate the monitoring of animals in shelter institutions or similar services. Although the conceptual framework for dealing with animal social behavior is distinct from that used for understanding human relationships, the gap can be partially solved through the approximation of the knowledge about animal behavior and Social Psychology studies.
