Associação entre cognição, suporte social e qualidade de vida de idosos atendidos em uma unidade de saúde de Curitiba/PR / Association between cognition, social support and quality of life of elderly patients in a health care facility in Curitiba/PR

RESUMO

OBJETIVO: o presente estudo teve como objetivo investigar a capacidade cognitiva de idosos e analisar a associação com a qualidade de vida e rede de apoio social em uma Unidade Municipal de Saúde, Curitiba-PR. MÉTODO: A pesquisa teve a participação de 110 idosos de 70 à 79 anos com cadastro definitivo em uma Unidade Municipal de Saúde de Curitiba/PR. Como instrumentos para a avaliação dos idosos foram utilizados um questionário sociodemográfico, a versão brasileira do questionário Wold Health Organization of Life Group-Bref (WHOQOL-Bref), o Mini-Exame do Estado Mental (MEEM), a Avaliação Cognitiva de Addenbrooke ­ Forma Revisada(ACE-R) e a escala Medical Outcomes Study (MOS). Os dados foram analisados através do software Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS). RESULTADOS: Os dados mostraram associações positivas e significativas entre os domínios de qualidade de vida, as variáveis cognitivas (em especial os escores de memória,linguagem, escore bruto ACE-R e MEEM) e os fatores da escala MOS. CONCLUSÃO:Prejuízos nas funções cognitivas dos idosos influenciam diretamente a qualidade devida e a rede de suporte social. Observa-se a necessidade da avaliação e/ou intervenção psicológica direcionada às limitações individuais no processo de envelhecimento, para então desenvolver atividades a fim de prevenir e/ou estimulara melhora das funções cognitivas, a funcionalidade da rede de suporte social e qualidade de vida do indivíduo idoso.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to investigate the cognitive capacity of the elderly and toanalyze the association with quality of life and social support network of MunicipalHealth Unit, Curitiba-PR. METHOD: The study was attended by 110 seniors from 70 to79 years with permanent registration in a Municipal Health Unit Curitiba/PR. As toolsfor the evaluation of the elderly were used a sociodemographic questionnaire, theBrazilian version of the questionnaire Wold Health Organization of Life Group-Bref(WHOQOL-Bref), the Mini Mental State Examination (MMSE), Addenbrooke Cognitive Examination - Revised Form (ACE-R) and scale Medical Outcomes Study (MOS). Datawere analyzed using Statistical Package for the Social Sciences software (SPSS).RESULTS: The data showed positive and significant association between the domains ofquality of life, cognitive variables (especially memory scores, language, gross scoreACE-R and MMSE) and the factors of the MOS scale. CONCLUSION: Losses on thecognitive functions of the elderly directly influence the quality of life and socialsupport network. Note the need for evaluation and/or psychological intervention directed to individual limitations in the aging process, and then develop activities toprevent and/or stimulate the improvement of cognitive functions, the functionality ofthe social support network and quality of life the elderly.
