It was done both bibliographical and field researches, characterizing this study as qualitative. The techniques used were questionnaires and interviews. We identified with the study that the construction of the representations and the discourse of the physical education teachers on the education / leisure interface still occurs due to the influence of the media or common sense, not being clear in the research, a theoretical foundation that subsidize the teacher in his daily teaching. Leisure is considered by teachers in a restricted way as a social function and, therefore, not as a social phenomenon and knowledge to be dealt with in school.
