ABSTRACT
In this paper we present the clinical-surgical case of a patient with a metastatic malignant paraganglioma in the carotid glomus. This is a very rare disease with a very controversial treatment. The patient was operated at our General Surgery Department. We describe the rapid growth of the tumor, the disorders observed in deglutition, the tumor's infrequent atypical transformation, the rarity of the regional ganglionic metastasis, and the exeresis performed. We also present a brief review of current diagnostic and therapeutic trends.
