O sofrimento de descobrir-se com câncer de Mama: como o diagnóstico é experienciado pela mulher / The suffering of discovering breast cancer: how the diagnosis is experienced by women

RESUMO

Este estudo teve como objetivo compreender e descrever como a experiência do diagnóstico de câncer de mama é vivida pela mulher. Para compreender a experiência das mulheres optou-se pela realização de uma pesquisa com abordagem qualitativa, tendo como referencial teórico o Interacionismo simbólico e metodológico, o Interacionismo Interpretativo. Foram realizadas entrevistas com seis mulheres para a obtenção de narrativas biográficas. A análise das narrativas permitiu a identificação de unidades experienciais integradas nos temas descobrindo-se uma mulher que tem câncer, querendo livrar-se da doença, sendo ajudada para não desistir, tentando adaptar-se à nova identidade. A descrição do tema possibilitou a compreensão da experiência da mulher no enfrentamento do diagnóstico a partir dos elementos componentes do seu sofrimento surpresa, medo e aprendizagem.

ABSTRACT

The purpose of this study was to understand and to describe the experience of breast cancer diagnosis lived by the woman. To understand women's experience it was adopted a qualitative approach theoretically based on Symbolic Interactionism and Interpretative Interacionism methodology. Interviews were used with six women for obtaining biographical narratives. The narratives analysis alloed to identify units of experience integrated in themes discovering herself as a woman that has cancer, wishing to get rid of the disease, being helped for not give up, trying to adapt herself to the new identity. The themes description facilitated the understanding of woman experience coping with the diagnosis starting from the elements wich compose her suffering surprise, fear and learning
