O conhecimento cotidiano sobre qualidade de vida de idosos / The daily knowledge of elderly quality of Life

RESUMO

O envelhecimento populacional é um dos maiores desafios da saúde pública. O envelhecimento acompanha a evolução da humanidade e destaca o processo saúde-doença nos idosos como um fenômeno biopsicossocial. As políticas sociais de valorização do idoso despertam o interesse de pesquisadores de diversas áreas na temática no tocante à qualidade de vida na terceira idade. No entanto, com o aumento da sobrevida, há uma busca pela melhoria da qualidade de vida, com o intuito de alcançar uma velhice bem-sucedida, respeitando seus valores e crenças, sua visão de saúde e a atuação social. A qualidade de vida multidimensional e as representações sociais partem dos principais aspectos a serem considerados em relação à vida e à saúde do indivíduo idoso. Nessa perspectiva, o presente estudo tem o objetivo de conhecer as representações sociais dos idosos acerca da qualidade de vida; medir a qualidade de sua vida e analisar a relação entre ela e as representações sociais desse grupo social. Trata-se de um estudo de base de dados secundários, em que foram utilizadas como aporte teórico as representações sociais, com ênfase na abordagem estrutural, e envolveu 250 idosos da rede de serviços do SUS de João Pessoa-PB. Como instrumentos de coleta de dados, foram utilizados o questionário com dados sociodemográficos, o TALP e os instrumentos WHOQOL, para medir a qualidade de vida. Os dados referentes ao TALP foram processados pelo software Evoc. e os sociodemográficos e dos instrumentos utilizando os programas estatísticos SPSS 13.0.

ABSTRACT

Population aging is one of the greatest public health challenges. The aging process follows the evolution of humanity and highlights the health-disease in the elderly as a biopsychosocial phenomenon. The social value of the elderly policies arouse the interest of researchers from different areas in the theme regards quality of life in old age. However with increased survival there is a search for improving the quality of life in order to achieve a successful old age, respecting their values and beliefs, their vision of health and social action. The quality of life multidimensional and social representations, run from the main aspects to be considered in relation to life and health of the elderly. In this perspective the present study aims to understand the social representations of the elderly on the quality of life; measure the quality of life of older people; and analyze the relationship between quality of life and social representations of the elderly. This is a secondary database study, was used as the theoretical social representations with emphasis on structural approach. It involved 250 elderly of the service network SUS João Pessoa-PB. Was used as collection instruments, the questionnaire with demographic data, TALP and WHOQOL instruments for measuring quality of life. The data relating to TALP was processed by Evoc software and sociodemographic and instruments using statistical programs SPSS 13.0.
