RESUMEN
Introducción:
Determinar la frecuencia de hipoglicemia en el recién nacido y las características asociadas a este evento. El estudio Se realizó un estudio observacional, descriptivo y retrospectivo en recién nacidos atendidos en el Hospital Regional de Ica entre enero y diciembre del 2010. Se evaluaron 147 recién nacidos a término pequeños para la edad gestacional a quienes se realizó la medición de glucosa en sangre solicitada durante las primeras 24 horas pos parto, por presentar algún factor de riesgo. Hallazgos 12,93% de los recién nacidos a término pequeños para la edad gestacional tenían hipoglicemia. De ellos, 57,98% fueron de sexo masculino (p=0,307), en el 10,53%, sus madres presentaron algún antecedente patológico (p=0,759), 5,26%, presentó hipertensión arterial en el embarazo (p=0,999) y en 22,32% la madre tuvo control pre-natal inadecuado (p=0,021).Conclusión:
la hipoglicemia neonatal está presente en uno de cada diez recién nacidos a término pequeños para la edad gestacional y se asocia al control pre-natal inadecuado.ABSTRACT
Objetive To determine the frequency of hypoglycemia in the newborn and the characteristics associated with this event. Material and Methods:
An observational, descriptive and retrospective study was conducted in newborns treated at the Regional Hospital of Ica between January and December 2010. We evaluated 147 small for gestational age on-term infants from whom the measurement of blood glucose was requested during the first 24 hours after birth, because of risk factors were present.Results:
12.93% infants, small for gestational age on-term had hypoglycemia. Of these, 57.98% were male (p = 0.307), in 10.53% mothers had some pathological antecedent (p = 0.759), in 5.26% the mother had hypertension during pregnancy (p = 0.999) and 22.32% had mothers with in adequate prenatal care (p = 0.021).Conclusion:
The neonatal hypoglycemia is present in one often small for gestational age on-term infants and is associated with inadequate prenatal care.
