La palabra Bioterio proviene del griego "BIOS" que significa vida y "TEIRON" que significa conservar, por tanto, el bioterio es el lugar destinado a la preservación de la vida, la cría y control de los animales de laboratorio con fines científicos, tecnológicos y docentes.
