La palabra Bioterio proviene del griego "BIOS" que significa vida y "TEIRON" que significa conservar, por tanto, el bioterio es el lugar destinado a la preservación de la vida, la cría y control de los animales de laboratorio con fines científicos, tecnológicos y docentes. [Editorial] / The word Bioterio comes from the Greek "BIOS" which means life and "TEIRON" which means to preserve, therefore, the vivarium is the place destined to the preservation of life, breeding and control of laboratory animals for scientific purposes, technological and educational.
