RESUMEN
Introducción:
la satisfacción laboral es una respuesta emocional positiva al trabajo, y puede ser un factor que influye en el ausentismo laboral.Objetivo:
determinar el nivel de satisfacción laboral y su relación con el ausentismo en el personal de enfermería en un hospital público de Monterrey.Métodos:
estudio mixto, descriptivo, correlacional, transversal. Muestra probabilística (235 sujetos). Se midió la satisfacción laboral con encuesta validada y se contabilizaron las faltas del último año. Se usó estadística descriptiva e inferencial paramétrica para análisis cuantitativo; en la fase cualitativa, análisis fenomenológico discursivo de datos obtenidos de entrevista semiestructurada.Resultados:
el personal se mostró medianamente satisfecho con su trabajo. La tasa de ausentismo fue de 4.7%. A una peor percepción de las condiciones laborales, mayor ausentismo (r2= 0.52, p < 0.05).Conclusiones:
las causas de insatisfacción laboral fueron bajos salarios, sobrecarga de trabajo y falta de reconocimiento acorde al nivel académico. El ausentismo se asoció a problemas de salud y sobrecarga; fue mayor en turno matutino y madres solteras.ABSTRACT

Job satisfaction is a positive emotional answer to the work; it can be a factor that influences ¡n absenteeism.Objective:
To determine the level of job satisfaction and their relationship with the absenteeism ¡n nurses ¡n a public hospital of Monterrey.Methods:
A mixed, descriptive, correlational, cross-sectional study. A probabilistic sample was integrated by 235 people. Job satisfaction was measured through a validated survey and the absences of the last year were counted. Descriptive and parametric inferential statistic were used for quantitative analysis; in the qualitative phase, a discursive phenomenology analysis was done of obtained data from interview.Results:
The nurses were moderately satisfied with their job. The rate of absenteeism was 4.7%. The worse the perception of the job conditions, the greater the absenteeism (r2 = 0.52, p < 0.05).Conclusions:
The causes of job dissatisfaction were low salaries, work overload and lack of recognition accord to the academic level. Absenteeism was associated to problems of health and work overload; it was bigger in morning shift and single mothers.Key words
