Descrições paternas sobre alguns fatores predisponentes para o excesso de peso de seus filhos / Parentals descriptions of some predisposing factors for their children's overweight

RESUMO

Objetivo: analisar as descrições paternas sobre alguns fatores predisponentes para o excesso de peso de seus filhos. Métodos: no estudo transversal e quantitativo, avaliaram-se, por meio de um questionário estruturado, os relatos dos pais de crianças de 2 Instituições Escolares de Patos de Minas, MG, quanto alguns fatores paternos (estado civil, renda familiar, excesso de peso corporal) e dos filhos (ingestão alimentar, prática de atividade física, assistir à televisão, meio de locomoção até a escola, e acompanhamento pelo enfermeiro) que poderiam estar contribuindo com a obesidade dos escolares. Resultados: entre os 55 relatos familiares, grande parte dos pais era casada, recebiam mais de 2 salários-mínimos, e alguns apresentavam excesso de peso. O deslocamento até a escola era de automóvel, e eles ingeriram os lanches trazidos de casa. Algumas crianças ingeriam refrigerantes e doces diariamente e assistiam a mais de 2 horas de televisão por dia; outras não ingeriam, diariamente, frutas e verduras e não praticavam atividade física. Entre as crianças com excesso de peso, algumas possuíam pais com excesso de peso, deslocavam-se até a instituição de automóvel e não tinham acompanhamento de um enfermeiro para tratar a alteração nutricional já instalada. Conclusão: alguns pais e seus filhos apresentavam excesso de peso e alguns fatores de risco para o surgimento ou para o agravamento dessa condição nutricional, destacando a necessidade de trabalhos com uma equipe multiprofissional para tratar do assunto com os escolares e seus familiares.

ABSTRACT

Objective: to analyze the paternals descriptions about some predisposing factors for their children's overweight. Methods: in the cross-sectional and quantitative study, was evaluated using a structured questionnaire, the reports of the parents of children from 2 School Institutions in Patos de Minas, MG, regarding some parental factors (marital status, family in come, excess body weight) and of the children (food intake, physical activity practice, watching television, means of transportation to school, and monitoring by the nurse) that who could be contributing to the schoolchildren's obesity. Results: among the 55 family reports, most parents were married, received more than 2 minimum wages and some were overweight. The trip to the school was by car and they ate the snacks brought from home. Some children ate soft drinks and sweets daily and watched more than 2 hours of television a day; others did not eat fruits and vegetables daily and did not practice physical activity. Among the overweight children, some had overweight parents, went to the Institution by car and were not accompanied by a nurse to treat the nutritional alteration already installed. Conclusion: some parents and their children were overweight and some risk factors for the emergence or worsening of this nutritional condition, highlighting the need to work with a multidisciplinary team to deal with the issue with the schoolchildren and their families.
