Lo Representacional y lo Expresivo: Dos Funciones del Lenguaje Interior / The Representational and the Expressive: Two Functions of the Inner Speech / O Representacional e o Expressivo: Duas Funções da Linguagem Interior

RESUMEN

Resumen El presente estudio tuvo por objetivo explorar funciones de lenguaje interior y su expresión en la gestualidad. Se solicitó a 2 estudiantes universitarios escuchar una música instrumental y luego referir los pensamientos internos en una entrevista retrospectiva video-asistida. Los resultados evidencian dos funciones del lenguaje interior representacional y expresiva. La función representacional da cuenta de un lenguaje denotativo, conceptual y secuencial. Por otro lado, la función expresiva se relaciona con un lenguaje vivido, afectivo, difuso e imaginístico. El presente trabajo contribuye a los estudios de la consciencia humana y enfatiza la importancia de incluir el estudio de la gestualidad en la comprensión de la experiencia humana.

ABSTRACT

Abstract The present study aimed to explore functions of inner language and its expression in gesture. Two university students were asked to listen to instrumental music and then refer internal thoughts in a retrospective video-assisted interview. The results show two functions of the interior language representational and expressive. The representational function shows a denotative, conceptual, and sequential language. On the other hand, the expressive function is related to a lived, affective, diffuse, and imagistic language. The present work contributes to the studies of human consciousness and emphasizes the importance of including the study of gesturalism in the understanding of the human experience.

Resumo O presente estudo teve como objetivo explorar as funções da linguagem interior e sua expressão em gestos. Dois estudantes universitários foram convidados a ouvir música instrumental e, em seguida, relatar seus pensamentos internos em uma entrevista retrospectiva assistida por vídeo. Os resultados mostram duas funções da linguagem interna representativa e expressiva. A função representacional está relacionada a uma linguagem denotativa, conceitual e sequencial. Por outro lado, a função expressiva diz respeito a uma linguagem viva, afetiva, difusa e imagística. O presente trabalho contribui para os estudos da consciência humana e enfatiza a importância de incluir o estudo dos gestos na compreensão da experiência humana.
