Gingivitis posterior al uso de prótesis provisionales en pacientes de la clínica de restaurativa, facultad de Odontología, Universidad de El Salvador / Gingivitis after the use of provisional prostheses in patients of the restorative clinic, School of Dentistry, University of El Salvador

RESUMEN

El objetivo de la presente investigación es establecer la causalidad de gingivitis posterior a la colocación de prótesis provisionales fijas en los pacientes del Área Clínica de Restaurativa de la Facultad de Odontología de la Universidad de El Salvador. La presente investigación fue de tipo analítica y prospectiva, ya que se estudió la aparición de gingivitis en los dientes pilares, relacionada a la colocación de prótesis provisionales fijas de resina. La cual tuvo como unidad de análisis el cuadrante de estudio que recibió la prótesis provisional y el cuadrante contralateral como grupo control en el mismo paciente, ambos se examinaron utilizando el índice PMA en 3 momentos uno previo a la colocación de las prótesis provisionales fijas, otro durante el uso de éstas y el último al momento de cementar la prótesis definitiva. Los resultados evidenciaron que la inflamación gingival se incrementó con el uso de las prótesis presentándose en el tercer control un 100% de inflamación gingival en las diferentes zonas de la encía, no obstante la relación no fue estadísticamente significativa ya que se obtuvieron casillas inferiores a cinco, lo que no permitió la comprobación entre la gingivitis con las características de terminado de las prótesis, ya que se encontraron otros factores predisponentes como la isquemia y los excesos de cemento provisional en el surco gingival.

ABSTRACT

The objective of the present investigation is to establish the causality of gingivitis later to the placement of provisional fixed prostheses in the patients of the Clinical Area of Restorative of the Faculty of Odontology of the University of El Salvador. This research was analytical and type foresight, since the onset of gingivitis was studied in the abutments, related to the placement of fixed provisional prothesis resin. Which had as its unit of analysis the quadrant under study received the provisional prothesis and the contralateral quadrant as a control in the same patient group, both were examined using the PMA index in 3 moments prior to placement of fixed provisional prosthesis , other during the use of these and the last when cementing the final prosthesis . The results showed that gingival inflammation increased with the use of prothesis appearing at the third control 100% of gingival inflammation in different areas of the gingiva, however the relationship was not statistically significant because boxes with values lower than five were obtained, which did not allow checking between gingivitis with the characteristics of the finished prosthesis as other predisposing factors such as ischemia and excess temporary cement in the gingival sulcus were found.
