El uso de rayos láser como método alternativo en odontología / The use of lasers as an alternative method in dentistry

RESUMEN

La odontología con el correr de los años ha evolucionado a grandes pasos, podemos ver como ejemplo de la evolución de la odontología, de cómo esta ha pasado desde la confección de las coronas talladas por nuestros antepasados, siguiendo con las coronas coladas en metal, hasta llegar a las que posiblemente son lo ultimo hoy en día como son los ceromeros. Así también podemos citar otro ejemplo de avances en la odontología, desde que se crearon los primeros taladros que trabajaban a base de cuerdas y los taladros neumáticos que alcanzan a trabajar hasta 300,000 rpm. Posiblemente la pieza de mano tendrá que ceder espacio en el consultorio; sin ser sustituida hasta este momento, en determinados procedimientos, por lo nuevo de la tecnología como lo es el rayo láser. Posiblemente el rayo láser no realice todo lo que el profesional en odontología quisiera que realizara, pero este conlleva un gran avance en la ciencia, podemos decir también que el láser no solo reemplazara; en determinados procedimientos a la pieza de mano en el consultorio, sino que también ha llegado para sustituir elementos tan importantes como el bisturí quirúrgico y la lámpara de fotocurado; también observamos cómo este empieza a ganar terreno en el consultorio dental, dando una mayor cantidad de opciones de tratamientos al odontólogo, debiendo este reconocer sus bondades; pero también debemos de ser capaces de reconocer sus alcances y sus limitaciones Por el momento basta con resumir que el presente trabajo fue realizado para despejar las dudas en cuanto al alcance que podría tener el rayo láser para la preparación de cavidades para ser obturadas con diversos materiales y el alcance que este podría tener en las preparaciones de prótesis parcial fija, dadas las exigencias de los pacientes y las normas de trabajo rigurosas que se presentan en el consultorio dental, actualmente se presenta el siguiente trabajo con el afán de incitar al lector a documentarse mas sobre la tecnología láser y el campo que esta pueda abarcar dentro del consultorio dental.

ABSTRACT

Dentistry over the years has evolved by leaps and bounds, we can see as an example of the evolution of dentistry, how it has passed from the making of crowns carved by our ancestors, continuing with crowns cast in metal, to reach those that are possibly the latest today, such as ceromers. Thus we can also cite another example of advances in dentistry, since the first drills that worked with ropes and pneumatic drills that work up to 300,000 rpm were created. The handpiece may have to give up office space; without being replaced until now, in certain procedures, by the new technology such as the laser beam. Possibly the laser beam does not do everything that the dental professional would like it to do, but this entails a great advance in science, we can also say that the laser will not only replace; in certain procedures to the handpiece in the office, but it has also come to replace such important elements as the surgical scalpel and the light-curing lamp; We also observe how it begins to gain ground in the dental office, giving a greater number of treatment options to the dentist, who must recognize its benefits; but we must also be able to recognize its scope and its limitations. For the moment, it is enough to summarize that this work was carried out to clear up any doubts regarding the scope that the laser beam could have for the preparation of cavities to be filled with various materials. and the scope that this could have in fixed partial denture preparations, given the demands of patients and the rigorous work standards that are presented in the dental office, currently the following work is presented with the aim of encouraging the reader to document more about laser technology and the field that it can cover within the dental office.
