ABSTRACT
On the basis of two service provider models (1) IRCT (International Rehabilitation Council for Torture Victims) and (2) IPSER (International Psycho-social and Socio-Ecological Research Institute) counselling and rehabilitation of victims of human rights violations in Malawi and Uganda are described. Follow-up studies show that both approaches of IRCT in Malawi and IPSER in Uganda can be effective. A number of case studies demonstrate the psychopathology involved and the psychosocial processes of therapeutic change of the victims of organised violence
