In a retrospective study of 84 Ghanaian infants with hypertrophic pyloric stenosis seen over a 15-year period between 1974 and 1988; the male/female incidence ratio was 91. The peak-age of presentation and diagnosis was between the second and sixth weeks of life. The operative mortality was 3.6 percent
