Violência doméstica e a relação com a inteligência executiva / Domestic violence and the relationship with executive intelligence

RESUMO

A violência é um fenômeno multifacetado, considerado problema de saúde pública. Como intuito de encontrar explicações, estudos têm sido realizados a partir de conceitos neurobiológicos, e considera-se que a cognição possa estar relacionada como desfecho da agressão. Este estudo apresenta como objetivo comparar as médias de Quociente de Inteligência Executiva de sujeitos que cometeram agressão às parceiras com a média daqueles que não perpetraram agressão. O estudo possui abordagem quantitativa de natureza descritiva, analítica e exploratória, realizado em um município no interior de São Paulo, em que foram analisados dois diferentes perfis de casais. O primeiro grupo foi composto por casais cuja mulher registrou boletim de ocorrência contra o parceiro masculino e o segundo grupo foi formado por casais autodeclarados harmoniosos de acordo com suas percepções. Foram analisadas as características sociodemográficas e a ocorrência de violência física entre os grupos, além da comparação entre as médias de Quociente de Inteligência Executiva dos parceiros masculinos. Houve diferença de 8% nas médias de Quociente de Inteligência Executiva na categoria violência física leve e diferença de 13% na categoria violência física grave. Presume-se possível relação entre as funções executivas e o desfecho de violência doméstica.

ABSTRACT

Violence is a multifaceted phenomenon, considered a public health problem. To find explanations, studies have been carried out from neurobiological concepts, and it is considered that cognition may be related to the out come of the aggression. This study aims to compare the means of Executive Intelligence Quotient of subjects who committed aggression to the partners with the average of those who did not commit aggression. The study has a quantitative approach of descriptive, analytical, and exploratory nature, carried out in a municipality in the interior of São Paulo, in which two different profiles of couples were analyzed. The first group consisted of couples whose wife recorded a bulletin of occurrence against the male partner, and the second group was composed of self-declared harmonious couples according to their perceptions. The sociodemographic characteristics and the occurrence of physical violence between the groups were analyzed, as well as the comparison between the means of Executive Intelligence Quotient of the male partners. There was an 8% difference in the means of Executive Intelligence Quotient in the category of light physical violence and a 13% difference in the category of severe physical violence. A possible relation ship between executive functions and the out come of domestic violence is presumed to be possible.
